Aggresive Wife

Chapter 463

CHAPTER 463 WE’RE NOT THERE YET

"Someone caught it all on a live stream. She was crying about not wanting to marry Joseph. His father was pissed and said they didn't want a shrew like her either. She felt so embarrassed and ran out."

"Where are you right now, Elise?" Madeline felt worried. Would accidents happen to those around her?

Elise sounded suspicious. "I'm at my store right now. Why? Did Annalise go see you? Wait for me. I'll be right there. I'm telling you. There's no need for you to be courteous with people like her."

"I'm fine. She didn't come looking for me. Just stay where you are. I'll be right over." She turned her car around and headed for the boutique.

If an accident happened, she was going to let it happen. She didn't believe herself incapable of finding clues herself.

Unfortunately, her trip was smooth to the boutique where she met up with the worried Elise.

Elise dragged her into the private lounge out back and offered her a glass of warm water. "What did you mean by that just now? What do you mean you're prone to accidents recently? Did Trenton come back again?"

Madeline shook her head. "Bruno came to see me this morning about a recent stroke of bad luck. Peculiar things keep happening. I stepped out after he finished only to have a flower pot come dropping right onto my head. If it weren't for Mr. Quincy weathering the blow for me, I'd be in the hospital right now."

"Are you sure it isn't Bruno orchestrating all this and working in cahoots with a shaman to scam you?" Elise was far more superstitious compared to Madeline and Noah. The thought of the supernatural being involved had her feeling a tad weak.

It was lucky that she was raised in an atheist household and was immediately considering a human factor.

"No. Wayne searched the roof. No one had ever touched that flower pot. It was an accident. I've also snuck into Bruno's place. He had wards in place and even had garlic hanging around. He's scared."

Bruno was also sleeping with one of said wards affixed to himself.

"Are you also cursed? Only the two of you are experiencing bad luck? Nothing happened to Mr. Quincy?" Elise asked curiously.

She shook her head. "So far nothing has happened."

It was just that he had gotten injured twice to save her.

"We should probably get a shaman then." Elise quickly accepted the reality of the situation and thought the lucky charm her friend was still wearing to be the cause of it.

She helped Madeline take it off. "You should stop wearing this. This sounds scary."

"I feel off when I'm not wearing it. And if the accidents are contrived, whoever is behind it is likely going to come for the charm. If I hide it, how am I going to catch them hook line, and sinker?"

Madeline put it back on.

Elise stood up in a flurry. "You're using yourself as bait?! Are you trying to get yourself killed?! Did Mr. Quincy agree to this?"

"He made me stay home…" Before she could even finish, the door burst open.

Noah was panting heavily at the entrance and was glaring right at Madeline.

Madeline wasn't afraid at all. All she did was ask, "What are you doing here?"

"Excuse me? Do you think I'm here to shop or have food? Why can't you just listen for once? Do you want to scare me to death before being satisfied?"

Words were spilling out with no filter but the reproachful tone was one of love.

Elise backed out of the room.

Madeline didn't think she had done anything wrong and replied straightforwardly, "Avoidance is not prevention. How are we going to catch the culprit if we keep hiding?"

"There are a thousand ways to catch them in the act. Do you always have to pick the most dangerous path? Have you ever thought about what's going to happen to the children if something happens to you? What about me? Do you know I can't live without you now?"

The more he spoke, the angrier he became. He was outright screaming at her by the end.
