Chapter 23 – Let’s remarry

Ravyn had called Alpha Voren earlier, but the call had gone unanswered which was never a good sign. Voren was rarely unavailable unless he was buried under negotiations or boardroom warfare.

Still, when Voren finally arrived, it was at precisely the right moment, and the timing alone eased some of the tension coiled in Ravyn’s chest.

Voren paused at the threshold of the office, one brow lifting as he took in the scene. Seraphine at in front of Ravyn, near the desk, heels sharp against the marble floor, her posture unyielding. Ravyn remained behind the desk, jaw tight.

"Am I interrupting something?" Voren asked coolly, already half-turned as if prepared to leave.

Ravyn lifted a hand, beckoning him in. "No. You’re right on time."

Voren stepped inside, the door closing softly behind him. He had seen Ravyn’s missed calls earlier but had been locked in consecutive meetings.

His original plan had been to invite Ravyn to lunch and hear him out in a neutral setting, not expecting Seraphine’s presence again.

The mere sight of her sparked irritation deep in his chest, irrational, and immediate. Old wounds had a way of resurfacing uninvited.

His gaze sharpened. "Are you two back together?"

The question was edged with annoyance, his tone biting despite his attempt at control.

Seraphine scoffed, folding her arms. "Never," she said flatly. "I’m just reclaiming what’s mine. Though he seems terrified of letting it go."

Voren’s eyes flicked to Ravyn briefly, then returned to her. This woman. The last encounter they’d shared still burned in his memory.
