Chapter 151 – Wrong web, wrong woman

The moment Seraphine ended the call with Damon, she didn’t pause or even acknowledge the weight of whatever had just been said, her attention snapping right back to her screen as her fingers moved across the keyboard with steady precision, like nothing had interrupted her at all.

If Corvine hadn’t heard the entire conversation himself, he probably would’ve believed she was completely fine, that whatever Damon had said hadn’t touched her in any way, but now that he knew, there was no way he could pretend this was just another normal moment.

"I still can’t wrap my head around it," Corvine said, leaning back slightly as he watched her work, his tone carrying disbelief mixed with a hint of dark amusement, "Ravyn almost killed Daisy without even confirming anything, just because he suspected she was cheating?"

To him, that kind of reaction needed proof, something solid to justify it, and the fact that Ravyn had gone that far on suspicion alone made it feel reckless, almost absurd, but Seraphine didn’t even look up, her focus locked in as she continued typing, her expression unreadable.

She only had a few hours before she needed to report to the hospital, and every second mattered, which made it clear she wasn’t about to get distracted by something that didn’t directly serve her current goal.

Corvine studied her for a moment longer before continuing, his voice lighter this time, though there was something thoughtful beneath it. "And Bryan noticing it too, that’s not nothing," he added, tilting his head slightly, "it almost feels like the moon goddess is finally stepping in on your side."

That was enough to get a reaction.

Seraphine paused just long enough to glance at him, her eyes steady, holding his gaze for a brief second before she turned back to her screen, her fingers resuming their rhythm without missing a beat.

"I’d appreciate it more if she helped me find my daughter," she said, her tone calm but carrying something deeper, something that didn’t need to be spelled out to be understood.

The air in the room changed after that. For a moment, neither of them spoke, the silence settling in as the only sound left was the soft, rapid tapping of keys.
