Chapter 359: I don’t want Ravyn

Voren woke up instantly, his senses snapping to full alert. The first thing he noticed was that the bed beneath them was completely soaked.

A chill hung in the air throughout the room, but intense heat radiated from the woman still wrapped in his arms.

It wasn’t normal warmth—Seraphine’s body felt like it was burning up from the inside. Her brows were tightly knitted in distress as she tossed and turned restlessly, struggling against something only she could see in whatever nightmare gripped her.

Every few seconds her hands clenched the sheets like she was fighting for her life.

Voren’s heart clenched hard at the sight. The shaman’s instructions came rushing back to him in a flash. Without wasting another second, he carefully lifted Seraphine into his arms.

Even unconscious, she kept fighting whatever horrors played out in her mind. "It’s okay, baby," he whispered softly, his voice thick with worry. She didn’t seem to hear him, or maybe some part of her did. Either way, he carried her, and gently lowered her into the jacuzzi.

The moment the warm water touched her skin, the tension melted from her body almost instantly. The frantic struggling stopped.

Her breathing gradually evened out into something calmer and more steady. Voren let out a long breath he hadn’t even realized he’d been holding, relief flooding through him.

He carefully rested her head against the side of the jacuzzi before hurrying back to the bed to deal with the soaked sheets.

Within minutes, he stripped the bed completely and replaced everything with fresh linens. Once he was satisfied, he returned for Seraphine. The burning heat coming from her body had eased up a little.

Using a soft towel, he gently dried every strand of her hair and every drop of water from her skin, his movements slow, patient, and full of tender care.

After dressing her in clean clothes, he carried her back to the bedroom and settled her comfortably beneath the blankets.
