Led by the butler, Rachel and David arrived at the Water Cloud Courtyard in the southeast corner. There was a clear pond in front of lush vegetation. The irises looked delicate and fish could be seen swimming under the leaves.

Old Mr. Jones sat under a nearby pavilion, dressed casually and playing a game of chess.

The chess board was an 8-by-8 grid, and the game was still ongoing with no clear winner between the black and white pieces. The black pieces seemed to be dominating, but their strength was dwindling. while the white pieces were in a disadvantageous position but remained in control.

All it took was a slight change in strategy and the black pieces would lose the entire game.

Old Mr. Jones was clearly aware of the situation. He fiddled with the chess piece using his fingertips. and didn’t place it down for a while.
