Being near Nick seemed to melt the ice around her heart in an instant. Nick said nothing. He had never been overly close with anyone, and he had long grown accustomed to farewells, indifference, and being forgotten. But tonight, while waiting for Khloe, a strange discomfort gripped him. He dared not call her, yet feared she might not respond if he did.
