Scarlett’s POV: 

The first night after Charles had left, i tossed and turned in bed all night long. Our argument a few days ago was still fresh in my memory as if it had just happened yesterday. Restless, I sat up and picked up my phone to check the time. It was already four o’clock in the morning, yet here I was, still wide awake.

But what I was worried about the most was that God would pronounce Charles’s death the next second. If that moment came, my heart and soul would die with him.

I lived like a walking dead in the following week. There was still no news about Charles until now. We had no idea if he was still alive.
