Capture Her Heart After Marriage

Chapter 38 What Kind of Person Was She?

Chaim lowered his eyes and thought for a moment. He didn't know how to answer her question. He couldn't really explain why he didn't allow them to meet. All he knew was that there was a voice inside him saying that when they did, something would happen that was beyond his control.

He didn't want to believe the feeling, yet he couldn't stop worrying about it either. Because of that, up until to now he hadn't told Eve he was married. Plus, the most important point to everything was that he hasn't made sure Eve didn’t have any kinds of feelings for him. If she did, he wondered would would happen to her.

"Chaim?" When Chaim hadn’t answered in more than a few moments, Evelyn tugged on his sleeve. "What are you thinking about?"

"Nothing," Chaim said as he returned to his senses and pinched his brow in weariness. "You really want to meet her?"

"Yes," Evelyn nodded.

A lump grew in Chaim’s throat he couldn’t swallow, his voice becoming a little hoarse, "Okay, I will arrange for you two to meet, but not for too long."

"Good." Evelyn beamed.

Chaim cast an annoyed glance at Nathaniel, who was standing expressionless at his side, and slowly balled his hands into fists before striding toward the hall. Nathaniel raised an eyebrow and followed him out.

"Which ward is Alexia in?"

"She’s downstairs, I'll take you there." Nathaniel said and led on, Chaim following closely.

Chaim followed him.

"I thought you weren’t going to let them see each other? Why have you suddenly changed your mind?" Nathaniel snickered as they got on the elevator.

Chaim ignored him, staring at the slim crack between the elevator doors, his face hiding all emotions from anyone caring to look.

"Chaim, what the hell is on your mind?"

"What do you mean?" Chaim asked coldly, drawing his lips into a thin line.

Nathaniel stood next to him and places his hands in the pockets of his white coat. "I distinctly remember you saying it would be impossible for you to love Alexia, right?"

"Hmm."

"Then why are you bringing these two together?" Nathaniel asked, eyeing his friend seriously. "I didn't want to say anything about any of this before. However, now I have something to say since you don't have that in mind. You shouldn't get too close to her."
