Seeing that everyone had fallen into an agreement, Aurora stood up and addressed them. “I’ll ask the servants to prepare the dinner.”

Skylar didn't even bother to look at her. Since the video was already out, there wasn't any reason to pretend that they had good relations. Plus, she was far too exhausted to play her part.

Jason simply nodded in response.

Aurora was embarrassed but she didn’t say much more. It was obvious that the video's contents had shaken the roots of their family.

As she passed by Alyssa, she stopped and whispered seriously, “Come out!”

Jason and Skylar were already seated at the other end of the study, and now they were chatting in a whisper.

Alyssa just glanced at them and followed Aurora to leave the study.

As soon as they were out of sight, Aurora immediately pulled her into her former bedroom. Closing the door behind them, Aurora held her shoulders and stared at her. “Did you ask someone to take the video?”

Hearing this, Alyssa couldn't help but be slightly surprised. She thought that by getting rid of Jason, she'd be able to get out of this scath-free. What she didn't expect was for her own mother to doubt her intentions–the same woman who had affirmed her stupidity time and time again.

In her impression, Aurora was a weak and indecisive woman who had completely placed her life in Jason's grasp. She was completely depended on Jason and pinned all her hopes on him.

“No, I didn’t do this.” Alyssa shook her head like a drum-shaped rattle, her eyes clear and bright.

Indeed, it was true that Aurora was a woman who didn’t have her own judgment, and even if she did, she kept them to herself. But Alyssa was her biological daughter, she knew her like the back of her hand. So she could felt that this matter was not simple.

Aurora frowned and said in a serious tone. “Your father and sister trust you very much. Don’t cheat them.”

When Aurora was young, her family was very poor. She was used to the life filled with struggles and contempt, but she was a beauty with a heart of gold for the people around her. That was the reason why Jason was so taken of her.

Alyssa had thought that her mother had met her Prince Charming and later lived a happy-ever-after. However, it was only when she was older did she finally understand that Jason married her not because he loved her, but because it was convenient for him to have a woman in his life–to take care of the two children his deceased wife had left behind.

In reality, Aurora was a nanny who just so happened to warm his bed.

She didn’t know what kind of charm Jason had that made Aurora so committed to him.

"I'm a little hungry." Not bothering to respond to Aurora’s comment, she simply lowered her head, not sure of what else to say.

Ever since Aurora had forced her to marry into the Lawrence family, Alyssa had grown to resent her bit by bit. And at this point, even if they were connected by blood, she could not stand Aurora anymore.

Seeing the exhaustion and fear in her eyes, Aurora also felt that she had gone too far.

“You go down first.” She looked at Alyssa and softly said.

“You go down first.” She looked at Alyssa and softly said.

"Thank you." As soon as Alyssa walked out of the old bedroom, the timid expression on her face had faded completely. And a hint of mockery and deceit flashed across her features.

Ever since she had married into the Lawrence family, she didn't want to be involved with the Moore family. All she ever wanted was a peaceful life. Although she had never met her husband, and his cousin was as notorious as he could be, it was still better than the resentment she faced in this household.

However, it seemed that the Moore family just refused to let her go.

Since that was the case, just wait and see!

When she passed by the study, she noticed that the door was wide open and the room was already empty.

Did Jason and Skylar go downstairs?

Alyssa had just walked down the stairs when she heard the sound of talking coming from the living room. Other than Skylar and Jason's shower of compliments, there was a distinctive male voice that echoed across the hall.

At this point of this, there was actually someone who came to Moore’s home?

She walked down the stairs curiously. When she finally saw the man’s face, she was stunned totally.

It was him!

Just as she was about to race up the stairs and hide in her old bedroom, Jason immediately waved her over. His tone was unusually gentle, far from the hardened voice he used whenever she was around. “Alyssa, come over here. Emmett sent his cousin to come and pick you up.”

Alyssa didn’t expect to see ‘Justine’ in Moore house, which made her so surprised.

He was wearing a dark fitting suit today, which must be pretty expensive–definitely far more expensive than all her clothes combined.

He probably felt her gaze, so he looked up at her, “Sister-in-law, Cousin Emmett asked me to come and pick you up."

Both his smile and his deep voice were ambiguous.

"Oh, I see." Alyssa said with great difficulty.

However, Skylar must've thought of something suspicious about their interaction, because she immediately moved closer to Jason to whisper a few words. As she did, she glanced at Alyssa a couple of times, with her eyes filled with contempt.

She didn't need to listen in to know that Skylar didn't say anything good.

Emmett used this opportunity to observe Alyssa. When he glimpsed her red and swollen face, he was a little angry and unconsciously clenched his hands on the armrest of the sofa.

No matter how ugly she was, she was still his woman!

He never hit her. How could these filthy people dare to slap her?

Emmett glanced over at Jason and Skylar and then looked at Alyssa, patted the seat next to him and said in a deep voice. “Come here.”

Alyssa really didn’t want to go there at first, but Justin’s reckless style let her feel scared. She didn’t know what he was doing here, so she decided to follow him first.

There was no way Emmett would let him pick her up.
