After Emmett finished speaking, he took the lead and started walking.

Alyssa followed closely behind him. She stared at his back and walked absentmindedly.

Suddenly, Emmett, who was walking in front of her, stopped.

Alyssa did not understand and also stopped.

At this time, Emmett said leisurely, "Walk well."

Alyssa was shocked and suspected that he had eyes on the back of his head.

Emmett took half a step forward and turned around. Under Alyssa's surprised gaze, he held her hand and led her forward.

Alyssa looked at the two people's hands that were clasped together and was stunned for a long time. She raised her head to look at him.

His jaw was taut. The lines of his chin were neat and clean, but it was indeed a little thinner.

She could not help but ask him. "Have you been sleeping in the hospital these past few days?"

The two of them just happened to walk to the elevator entrance. Emmett pressed the elevator door and answered lightly. "Yes."

Alyssa continued to ask, "Did you have a good meal?"

Emmett looked at her coldly as if he disliked her. He did not say anything.

The elevator door opened and Alyssa was brought into the elevator by Emmett.

Winston stayed in a VIP ward, and the whole floor was emptied for him to recuperate.

The moment they stepped out of the elevator, Alyssa saw that the corridor was full of bodyguards, but the rest of the Lawrence family were not there.

Emmett brought her straight to Winston's ward.

"Grandpa is inside, go in."

Alyssa pushed the door open and entered the ward.

This was the first time Alyssa came to see Winston since his accident.

On the snow-white bed, Winston was quietly lying on the bed. He was wearing an oxygen mask, and his body was full of tubes. He was still infusion.

Alyssa walked closer and found that Winston's face was as pale as paper. His eye sockets were sunken, and his face was also wrinkled.

Winston was not a kind old man. He always had a dignified look, but Alyssa could not help feeling her nose ache when she saw him like this.

Alyssa sat down in front of the bed and softly called, "Grandfather?"

The person on the bed did not react at all. If it was not for the fog formed by breathing in the oxygen cover, Alyssa would almost think that Winston did not seem to be alive.

"Alright, come out."

At this time, the door to the ward was pushed open and Emmett's voice came over.

Alyssa raised her head and wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes. She got up and walked out of the ward.

She closed the door of the ward and spoke to Emmett, "What did the doctor say?"

Emmett did not answer her question immediately. Instead, he looked at her quietly.

He noticed that her eyes were slightly red. He frowned slightly and said, "I am not sure when he will wake up. Even if he wakes up, he may not be like before."

Alyssa repeated what he had just said in shock. "He may not be like before?"

Emmett just looked at her expressionlessly and did not explain anything.

He might not be like before. It meant that Winston might be disabled, paralyzed, and become an old man who could not take care of himself.

Alyssa's face turned pale all of a sudden. She looked at Emmett but did not know what to say to comfort him.

A woman's voice suddenly came, "What are you doing here?"

Alyssa heard the voice and looked over. She saw Frances walking over.

Frances's gaze landed on Alyssa. It was very obvious that what she said just now was to Alyssa.

Alyssa pursed her lips and still called out, "Aunt."

Frances's expression was not very good. Her eyes were clearly rejecting Alyssa but she still nodded and said, "How are you these few days?"

"Thank you for your concern. I am fine."

Alyssa was a little disgusted with Frances like this.

Frances clearly hated her in her heart, but she still wanted to maintain a superficial harmony with her.

Frances asked again, "You came to see Dad?"

Alyssa did not cover it and said bluntly, "Yes."

Frances's eyes slightly flashed as if she was reminding her with good intentions, "During this period of time, you better avoid suspicion."

"Why should I avoid suspicion? As his granddaughter-in-law, shouldn’t I come to visit him?" Alyssa's expression was slightly restrained. She looked a little cold. "It should be the person who pushed Grandpa downstairs feel more guilty, right?"

Frances did not expect that Alyssa would be so frank. After a slight pause, she said, "That's true."

Emmett suddenly said, "Aunt, aren’t you going to go in and see grandpa?"

Emmett's tone was not very good and sounded a little impatient. Frances did not say much and pushed the door open to enter the ward.

Alyssa stared at the door for a few seconds and only came back to her senses after Emmett called her.

"Alyssa."

"Huh?"
