Emmett remained silent the whole time. Alyssa's expression slowly faded away and eventually turned cold.

She took a deep breath and covered her face with her hand, trying to hide away her tears.

Without saying a word, Emmett reached out and pulled her into his embrace.

Alyssa punched and kicked him restlessly, but he did not let go.

The two of them had just returned from a long flight and were already a little tired. Alyssa and Emmett had not fought for long before Alyssa fell asleep from fatigue.

Emmett carried her into the bedroom and placed her on the bed.

He had slept in this bedroom for half a year and now he finally had a mistress at home.

Emmett looked at Alyssa by the bed for a while, then got up and went to the bathroom to get a towel to wipe her face.

Alyssa had cried before, and there were still traces of tears on her face. If he did not wipe her face, she might not feel well later.

Just as he was cleaning Alyssa's face, Emmett's phone rang.

He hurriedly took out his phone and turned it off.

He turned to look at Alyssa and found that there were no signs of her being disturbed. Only then did he stand up and gently picked up his phone and went out to answer the phone.

The call was from Frank.

During this month in Sydney, Frank had been busy investigating the whereabouts of the child, but he did not find anything.

After all, it was a newborn baby. So it was too hard to find.

Emmett walked to the French window, picked up the phone, and asked in a deep voice, "Is there any progress?"

Frank said seriously, "I have found some clues, but I am not sure yet. For now, it seems that it has direct contact with the people from the Lawrence family…"

Frank was also at a loss for words on the phone.

Emmett thought for a moment and said, "Come over and talk to me."

Frank came very quickly.

When he entered, he called out respectfully, "Mr. Lawrence."

Emmett looked at him and signaled him to keep his voice down.

After that, he instructed Frank, "Go to the study room first."

Frank nodded and went straight to the study room.

Emmett went back to the bedroom to take a look. When he saw Alyssa was still sleeping peacefully, he closed the door and went to the study room.

Just as, the bedroom door was closed, Alyssa, who was still sleeping on the bed, suddenly opened her eyes.

Previously when Emmett wiped her face, she had already woken up. She was just pretending to be asleep.

It was very strange that Emmett had never allowed her to see the child.

Although Emmett was very cold and indifferent, he was really good to her and treated her well. Therefore, it was strange that he still insisted on not letting her see the child.

She quietly got up from the bed, opened the bedroom door, and walked out.

Previously she had heard the heavy sound of the door opening and closing outside. That should be the sound of the apartment door. That was why she could feel it in the bedroom.

Alyssa walked to the entrance and took a look. Sure enough, she saw a pair of men's leather shoes that which did not belong to Emmett.

The only men who could come to find Emmett at home was Xavier and Frank.

As for Xavier, he was a noisy person. If he came to the house, it would not be so quiet.

In that case, the person who came could only be Frank.

Alyssa glanced at the door of the study and walked over in her tiptoes. She then quietly leaned over.

The door of the study room was made of wood. The sound of her twisting the handle and opening it was very soft.

Through the gap between the door, she saw Emmett and Frank standing face to face and talking about something. They both looked exceptionally serious.

Frank handed a document to Emmett. "Mr. Lawrence, this is the latest information I found out about the Lawrence family's financial situation. Among them, there is a sum of money that was transferred to an overseas account by Mr. Backer. I think it might have something to do with the disappearance of the Young Miss.”

Emmett did not say anything about this. He was silent for a while before asking, "What about the rest of the Lawrence family?"

Frank closed the information and shook his head. "No one else was found any abnormalities in the flow of funds for the time being."

The two of them started to talk about other things which Alyssa did not quite understand.

She closed the door and her mind was a little confused.

The "Mr. Backer" that Frank spoke of, she knew that it was Dylan.

However, who was the "Young Miss" that Frank mentioned just now? Was she her and Emmett's daughter?

Was it really not Emmett who secretly sent people to take the child away?

But what did the disappearance of her daughter have to do with Dylan?

When she found out that the child was missing, her first reaction was that Emmett took the child away. That was because she could not think of anyone else at the moment who would take the child away other than Emmett.

If the child was really taken away by someone sent by Dylan, then what was Dylan trying to do?

Was he only doing it to stand against Emmett?

If it was really Dylan, what would he do to her daughter?

A chill ran through Alyssa's limbs and bones, making her shiver violently.

If Emmett had taken the child away, at least he could ensure the safety of the child.

But if it was really Dylan who took her child away…

Alyssa staggered and reached out to support herself against the wall before barely managing to stand firm.
