Alyssa raised her head and forced a smile.

Her expression was real, not fake.

When she thought that Angela might have been taken away by George, she could not laugh at all.

George said gently, "Go and finish your cooking. I just have something to do with Emmett. He is very busy in the company, so he cannot spare time. He is not going back to the old residence now, so I can only come here to look for him."

Alyssa quickly noticed the loophole in George's words.

Since George knew that Emmett was busy in the company and could not spare time, of course he would know that Emmett was still in the company right now.

George did not even have the key to Emmett's house, so why did he come to Emmett's house now?

To stand at the door and wait for Emmett to come back?

No, George was obviously here to catch Emmett red handed.

If Emmett came back early today, then George would know that Alyssa had made an appointment with Emmett.

That would eventually prove that Alyssa and Emmett were pretending to be separated.

"I'll get you a cup of water first." As she spoke, she closed the door and went to get some water for George.

George did not say anything. He just walked to the sofa and sat down.

Alyssa poured George a glass of water and was about to go back to the kitchen when George suddenly said, "I forgot to bring my phone when I came out. Can I borrow your phone to make a call?"

Alyssa’s heart skipped a beat.

She was just about to go into the kitchen and send a text message to Emmett to tell him not to come back for the time being.

George was really a cunning old fox. He might have anticipated it and asked her for her phone.

Alyssa turned back to look at him and said. "Of course."

Luckily, Alyssa was used to encrypting the software on her phone.

"I'll unlock it first." Alyssa said and cleared out her recent contacts.

George was sitting on the sofa while Alyssa was standing in front of him. He naturally could not see what she was doing on the phone.

She then passed the phone to George.

George took the phone and made a call, but no one answered.

He looked at Alyssa apologetically. "Can you put your phone here? He should call me back later."

Alyssa now completely understood George's intention.

He was trying to kill any chance of her informing Emmett.

Alyssa's expression was a little unnatural. "Sure."

"Thank you." He turned off his phone in front of her and gently put it on the coffee table.

Alyssa stared at the phone for a few seconds before she turned around and went into the kitchen.

She was cutting vegetables absentmindedly. She thought Emmett was so smart. Even if he came back, he should be able to see George's car.

George could tell that he did not bring his phone, but it was impossible for him not to come by car.

She did the cooking very slowly. It was supposed to be ready at eight o'clock, but she only finished it at nine o'clock.

And Emmett did not come back.

Alyssa also heaved a sigh of relief in her heart.

After Alyssa put the food away, she walked out of the kitchen and went into the hall.

"Uncle Lawrence, I need to go back." She walked over to George and said.

She cooked for two hours, and George sat in the hall for two hours.

He did not speak for two hours, so his voice was slightly hoarse. "Are you not waiting for Emmett to come back?"

"When he comes back, he will chase me out anyway." Alyssa lowered her eyes to prevent him from seeing the emotions in her eyes.

Since she had said so, George could not stop her anymore.

He passed the phone to her. "Okay, you can go back first."

Alyssa walked out of the apartment and went into the elevator. Only then did she let out a long sigh of relief.

It seemed that she and Emmett were still too careless.

However, George was also a little disappointed.

Back then, he used the child's matter to test Alyssa. But he never thought that Alyssa would use this as a reason to get close to Emmett.

Alyssa returned to the car and took out her phone to call Emmett.

She called several times but Emmett did not answer the phone.

Alyssa felt a little uneasy.

Emmett said he would come back for dinner. According to the usual days, he would be home by eight o'clock. Previously, she thought that Emmett did not go home because he knew that George was looking for him.

But now he didn't answer her phone.

Could something have happened to him?

Alyssa could only call Frank.

Coincidentally, Frank also did not answer the phone.

Alyssa then drove to the Lawrence Group.

She waited at the gate for a while but did not see Emmett come out.

Where did he go?

Alyssa looked at her watch. It was almost eleven o'clock.

It had been so long since she called him. Under normal circumstances, he should have called her back.

At this time, Alyssa's suddenly phone rang.

She hurriedly took it out and saw that it was not Emmett but Hazel calling.

Hazel had been too busy recently and Alyssa had not seen her for many days.

Alyssa picked up the phone, "Hazel."
