Alyssa went to the supermarket to buy some vegetables and meat before driving to Emmett's apartment.

Dylan and George's paternity test would come out today. Although Alyssa had confirmed that these two were father and son through Emmett, she was still a little nervous.

She remembered that Henry had said that Lawrence family was very complicated.

Only now did she truly experience it.

When she arrived at Emmett's apartment, the person who went to get the DNA test results had not arrived yet.

Emmett was sitting on the sofa with a cigarette between his fingers but he did not light it. His eyes were deep and dark. No one knew what he was thinking at this moment.

Emmett rarely smoked. At least he did not have a habit of smoking in the past.

Hearing the sound of footsteps, Emmett put down the cigarette in his hand on the tea table in front of him. He raised his head and looked in Alyssa's direction. "Is there a traffic jam on the road?"

When he saw the pile of things in her hands, he was slightly startled. He got up and walked towards her with big strides and took over all the things in her hands.

"Why did you go to buy these things?" Emmett frowned. His tone was not very good, and his expression was somewhat displeased.

Alyssa didn’t come back on time, so he thought she might be stuck in a traffic jam. But he didn’t expect her to buy these things for him.

Alyssa knew the reason why Emmett looked unhappy. She said gently, "When your father came yesterday, I told him as an excuse that I was here to cook for you to please you. Of course I had to act like it."

Emmett did not say anything after hearing this. He just put the things Alyssa bought into the fridge with a cold face.

Alyssa stood at the kitchen door and watched him bend over and put the things into the fridge. She could not help but make fun of him. "Your expression is as cold as the refrigerator."

Emmett turned his head and looked at her. He said faintly, "I can still be as cold as an iceberg. Do you want to feel it?"

"No." Alyssa quickly shook her head.

Emmett closed the refrigerator door and walked towards her with a fake smile.

Alyssa unconsciously took a step back.

Emmett's face became even worse. He grabbed Alyssa's hand and asked, "What are you hiding from?"

Alyssa said honestly, "I was afraid you’ll beat me up."

"Ha." Emmett sneered. "If I beat you up every time you make me angry, then you have already died more than ten thousand times."

"Do I always make you angry?" Alyssa was shocked by the "ten thousand times" he said.

It was rare for the two of them to have such a harmonious quarrel. Alyssa enjoyed this feeling very much.

Emmett pretended to be fierce. "What do you think?"

Alyssa covered her mouth and laughed. Just as she was about to speak, the doorbell rang outside.

The two of them looked at each other. They knew that the DNA report was delivered.

Alyssa patted his hand and said, "I will go and open the door."

Emmett let go of her and walked to the sofa to sit down.

Alyssa opened the door and found that the person standing outside was Frank.

Frank was not surprised to see Alyssa and called out habitually. "Good afternoon, Mrs. Lawrence."

"Come in quickly." Alyssa stood to the side and waited for Frank to come in before closing the door.

Frank walked quickly to Emmett with a leather paper bag in his hand. "Mr. Lawrence, this is the result of the appraisal."

Emmett opened the leather paper bag and took out the appraisal report. He read the report page by page and finally stopped at the words "parent-child relationship.”

He looked at it for a few seconds and handed it to Alyssa.

When he looked at it, Alyssa was sitting beside him.

Alyssa took it and could not hide the shock on her face. "I did not expect Dylan to really be your father's illegitimate child."

The room fell into a strange silence.

Alyssa put down the appraisal results in her hands and turned to look at Emmett. "If Dylan is your father's illegitimate child, then who is Dylan's biological mother?"

Emmett did not answer her question. Instead, he said, "Aunt got married very early. She gave birth to Dylan when she was 18 years old. Her husband, Richard Backer, is an artist. The two of them grew up together. After they got married, they settled overseas."

Alyssa thought for a while and asked, "Childhood sweethearts? Then their relationship must be especially good."

"Yes. When I lived in their house, I could tell that uncle loved aunt very much." Emmett frowned slightly after he finished speaking.

"Then why did your aunt and her family come back last year during the new year but your uncle did not come back?" Alyssa wanted to ask this question on New Year's Eve last year.

After she finished speaking, she remembered what Justin had said.

"Justin told me that he felt that his parents' relationship was not good. Children might not understand the love between adults. But he must be able to feel whether his parents love each other or not. Besides, he is very sensitive to these things at his age. I believe he is telling the truth."

If Frances and Richard grew up together as childhood sweethearts and the two of them had their first child at the age of eighteen, they must love each other very much.

However, all of this was very strange.

"If Dylan is your father's child, then where is your aunt's child?"
