CEO's Substitute Bride

When Emmett returned to the Lawrence Group, he had expected, he saw Kathleen in the president's office.

When he entered, Kathleen was sitting on the sofa with a sullen look on her face. It was obvious that she had been waiting for him for a long time.

As soon as Emmett entered, she asked, "Where did you go?"

"Do I need to report to you?" Emmett only took a glance at her before he walked straight to the executive chair behind the desk and sat down.

Clearly, he did not put Kathleen in his eyes at all.

Seeing Emmett’s attitude towards her, Kathleen was in a rage. She stood up and walked in front of him furiously in her high heels. "Emmett, we are siblings by blood. Blood is thicker than water. We should trust each other and support each other."

“Trust each other?" Emmett seemed to have heard something funny. He looked at Kathleen and asked her sarcastically, "Have you ever lied to me my dear sister?"

The words ‘my dear sister’ carried a deep sense of mockery.

Emmett stared at her with a sharp gaze. He looked as if he could see through everything.

There was a flash of panic in Kathleen’s eyes, but she forced a smile on her face and asked tentatively, "Did someone tell you anything?"

Emmett did not answer. He just stared at her.

Kathleen was very uncomfortable when he stared at her. The fear of her lies might be exposed made her not know where to put her hand.

However, why did she feel guilty and afraid?

Everything she did back then was for Emmett and for the Lawrence family!

Thinking of this, Kathleen's expression returned to normal again. "No matter what other people say to you, don't believe them. The Lawrence family has developed to this day. So many people have been staring at us. They are eager for us siblings to have an internal conflict so that they can sit back and reap the benefits!"

This was not the first time Emmett had heard such words from her mouth. He said it without any emotion. "Is that so?"

Kathleen said with certainty, "Of course!"

Emmett no longer looked at her and lowered his head to turn on the computer. "I am going to work. You can leave now.”

Kathleen was not sure if Emmett believed her words, but she could only turn around and leave out of the office.

Kathleen walked out of the President's office with a face full of doubt.

Everything went on well with Emmett in the past three years. He did not remember anything about the past. He did not have much contact with Xavier and the other’s either. Although he did not get close to her much, he was still very obedient to her.

But recently, she found out that Emmett was becoming more and more difficult to control.

Where did the problem come from?

As Kathleen thought about this, she returned to her office. Then, she immediately dialed a phone number.

The phone rang several times before it was picked up.

As soon as the phone was picked up, Kathleen said angrily, "Doctor Li, my younger brother has been out of my control recently. He doesn’t listen to what I say. I suspect that there is a problem with your hypnosis!"

It was very quiet on the other end of the phone.

After a while, a slightly hoarse male voice sounded: "Hypnosis is not a soul control technique. Even if he is hypnotized, he still has his own thoughts and ideas. If you want him to listen to you and want to control him, you'll have to rely on your own abilities."

There was not a trace of unusual emotion in Doctor Li's tone, but Kathleen felt that he was mocking her.

Kathleen clenched her fists and said with an ugly expression. "Are you mocking me for not having the ability?"

Doctor Li was not in a hurry and said slowly, "In the past three years, you are the only person who can gain his trust, but you actually played such a good hand of cards poorly. It is also considered a kind of ability."

Kathleen had always been proud and rarely took anyone seriously. When she heard this kind of words, she was naturally about to lose her temper.

She closed her eyes and calmed down her emotions before asking again, "Doctor Li, is it possible for my brother to remember what happened before?"

"There is no definite answer to this question."

"What do you mean that there is no definite answered? Are you saying that he might remember what happened in the past?" Kathleen's expression changed violently. "Didn't you say there would be no risk at all and everything was going to be fine?"

"That's just what you think. My definition of ‘no risk’ is different from yours. I still have work to do. Goodbye, Miss Lawrence."

After Doctor Li finished speaking, he hung up the phone.

"Doctor Li? Hello? Hello?" Kathleen could not believe that a lousy doctor like him dared to hang up her phone.

She was so angry that she threw her phone away and paced around the office anxiously.

No, she could not sit and wait for death like this. She could not let Emmett remember what happened in the past.

As long as she didn't let him come into contact with the people he used to know in the past, he definitely wouldn't remember what happened in the past.

Wasn't this how they go through in the past three years?

The more Kathleen thought about it, the more she felt that her idea was correct.

Thinking like this, Kathleen made a phone call and called Emmett's driver over.

When the driver came to the office, Kathleen asked, "Where has Emmett been in the past two days?"

The driver lowered his head and said hesitantly, "He did not go anywhere."

Kathleen heard that and sneered, "Did he go to the Nine Clouds Media to find that person named Xavier Halls?"

The driver quickly said, "Yes."

Kathleen looked at him with warning, "Keep a tight eye on him."

When Angela was brought out by Marilyn previously, she almost lost her way. Because of this matter, Emmett did not work overtime. He left the company and prepared to go home when it was time to get off work.

Just as he walked out of the Lawrence Group’s building, Kathleen followed behind him.
