When Alyssa had just woken up from coma back then, she was weak and had lost all her memories.

No one could empathize with her panic.

Under such circumstances, if a person who was close to her appeared and had a relationship with her that was recognized by everyone, then she would naturally rely on that person and believe in him.

From this perspective, Sampson did this with good intentions.

However, if she were to analyze it carefully, this statement would seem a little far-fetched.

However, the most important thing right now was for Sampson to quickly get better and leave the hospital. Alyssa did not dig into it since these things were not urgent at all.

Hence, she nodded and asked him, "Do you still want to drink the soup?"

Sampson smiled and handed the bowl to her. "Yes."

Alyssa took the bowl and lowered her head to get the soup for him.

A strand of hair fell from her ear. She hooked it up and put it behind her ear. A simple action made her look more refined and gentle.

Sampson retracted his gaze and lowered his eyes to cover the emotions in his eyes.

Actually, when he said that he was Alyssa's fiancé back then, there were not that many complicated reasons.

The reason he said just now was only a small part. The bigger reason was that he was trying to test if Alyssa had really lost her memory.

What happened afterwards showed that Alyssa indeed lost her memory.

Alyssa served the soup and passed it to him.

Sampson took it and said gently, "Thank you."

"You are so polite to me." Alyssa sat down next to him and sighed. "Even if we are not a couple, we are still friends. We have a life and death relationship, haven’t we?"

Sampson was amused and laughed out loud.

He put his hand to his lips and suppressed his laughter. It was as if he had finally laughed enough before he said in a low voice. "Yes, we are."

"Is it funny? Give me back the soup!" Alyssa was about to snatch the soup from Sampson when she was injured.

Sampson had sewn a needle on his head, but his hand movements were not ambiguous at all. He quickly blocked Alyssa's hand. "Hey, I am a patient now."

Only then did Alyssa withdraw her hand.

Even though she had lost her memory, it did not mean she did not have a brain.

Sampson's presence was full of doubts. She had so many questions for Sampson, but it was not a good time to ask now.

When she was in a vegetative state, Sampson looked after her for three years, so it was likely that Sampson was not a bad person.

After Sampson finished the soup, she took the bowl to wash it.

When she finished washing the bowl, her phone rang.

Alyssa picked up the phone and saw that it was an unfamiliar number.

Her heart skipped a beat. She secretly guessed that Emmett might have gotten the results of the paternity test and called her.

She glanced at Sampson.

After all, Sampson had suffered a head injury, so it was easy for him to get tired. He was now taking a nap with his eyes closed.

Alyssa took her phone out of the ward and picked up the phone. "Hello?"

The next moment, a man's deep voice sounded on the phone.

"Miss Alyssa."

Alyssa immediately recognized that it was Emmett's voice.

Emmett's voice was very pleasant. It was a low and deep voice. It sounded very textured and had a high degree of perception.

She thought that it was Frank who would inform her that the result was out, but she did not expect Emmett to personally call her.

Alyssa was a little flattered by the favor. Although Emmett was not an overbearing man, he gave people the impression that he was a high and mighty person.

Alyssa pursed her lips and swallowed her saliva. She said, "Hello, Mr. Lawrence."

"I have got the DNA paternity test result. Where are you?"

Emmett's words were simple and clear. Alyssa was already used to his way of speaking.

"I am in the hospital now." As she said, Alyssa pushed the door slightly and looked through the crack in the door. When she saw Sampson still maintaining his previous posture, she closed the door.

"What are you doing in the hospital?"

Alyssa did not know if it was her illusion or not, but she felt Emmett's tone was raised, as if. . . he was a little nervous.

She did not think much about it and said, "My friend had an accident and is in the hospital now. You send me the address. I will come over."

The man on the other end of the phone ignored her words. His tone was a little tough. "Your address."

Alyssa did not want to argue with him about this, so she gave him the address.

As soon as she finished speaking, Emmett immediately hung up the phone.

He really was a strange person who did not have the slightest bit of gentlemanly manners.

Alyssa stared at the phone screen for a moment, then took a deep breath and stuffed the phone back into her pocket.

When she returned to the ward, she saw that Sampson had already opened his eyes.

He was not in good spirits. He seemed to have used up all his energy when talking to her just now, and now he looked terrible.

Alyssa frowned slightly. "I have something to do. I need to go out for a while."

Sampson opened his half-closed eyes a little and asked a rare question. "Who is looking for you?"

Alyssa hesitated and said, "It’s. . ."

Suddenly, Sampson interrupted her. "Come back early and be careful. This matter is not that simple. The target can be me, and it can be you too.”
