Chasing Back My Ex-wife
Chapter 33
"Sir, it's only five o'clock," Max reminded him.
"I'm not blind." Arthur looked up and shot him a cold glance.
Max was speechless.
He thought, "Then why are you staring at your phone? There are still 7 hours till midnight!"
...
Lucy sat in her office holding the contract Arthur had given her. She had read through it several times, but she still couldn't make up her mind.
She sighed and leaned back in her chair, considering the success rate of escaping Arthur. The answer was zero.
Ding—
Kylah sent her a text.
"Lucy, let's have dinner tonight! How about barbecue?"
Lucy felt like she wouldn't get an answer from pondering like that and taking a chill pill was probably better. So, she agreed.
After work, she drove to the barbecue stall Kylah had suggested.
The sun had set and the temperature had dropped. It was only about 7 p.m., but the stall was already bustling with people.
As soon as Lucy got out of the car, her hourglass figure attracted the attention of quite a few men. When she tucked her curly red hair behind her ear and revealed her exquisite features, more men started to try and shoot their shot.
Lucy had long since gotten used to stares like that, so she didn't take it to heart. She started looking for Kylah amongst the bustling crowd.
"Lucy!"
"He's so handsome!"
"The two of them are a perfect match. They must be a couple, right?"
"Oh my god, I envy that pretty girl. She has such a dashing boyfriend!"
That stall had an indoor and outdoor dining area, and Lucy thought Kylah, who liked a happening atmosphere, would choose to sit outside. Unexpectedly, she was sitting inside,...and Maddox was with her.
"Maddox." Lucy smiled and walked towards him.
They stood side by side and their perfect looks attracted countless glances. However, they had long since gotten used to that.
"Kylah is waiting for us on the third floor." Maddox led her upstairs and tilted his head to speak to her.
Lucy made a vague noise, not knowing what to say.
Now that the Pate Group was in such a crisis, did Maddox know that she had caused it? If he knew...would he blame her?
"Do you have something on your mind?" Maddox had been paying attention to her expression and asked worriedly.
Lucy smiled. "How could there be? The most I could be worried about is whether I can eat before Kylah snatches all the food."
She wanted to ask how the Pate Group was doing, but she really didn't have the courage.
"You don't have to worry about that." Maddox pat her head, but after reaching out halfway, he pulled his hand back. "Eat more, there's no need to fight."
"I was just kidding. You thought I was serious?" After being in the business world for more than five years, it was very rare for Lucy to meet anyone as innocent as Maddox.
Only then did Maddox realize that she had only been joking, and he blushed right away.
Seeing his flushed face, Lucy felt very amused. He looked like a little girl who had just gotten teased by a bunch of boys!
Fortunately, they had reached the third floor, and Kylah came out of the private room to look for them. "Lucy, are you a snail? If I didn't come out to find you, you would have taken another day to reach."
"Maddox came to bring me in. Why don't you blame him for being slow?" Lucy retorted.
Kylah pouted and gave her a sour look. "Maddox has such long legs. I'm sure it was you who couldn't keep up with him with those short legs of yours!"
"Babe, are you blind? Do you want me to recommend you a good eye specialist?" Lucy smiled cunningly.
"Get lost! My eyesight is fine!"
"Haha, that just means your mind is troubled. Poor eyesight can be treated, but not the mind!"
Kylah and Lucy bickered all the way to the room, and Maddox walked alongside them smiling from ear to ear.
"Mommy..." Caden hadn't seen Lucy in a long time. He spread his arms wide and rushed into Lucy's arms, and when she carried him, he gave her a smacking kiss.
Carrying him, Lucy looked down at the grease stains on her clothes and face, and her temples throbbed.
"Kid, get away before your mother erupts with anger!" Kylah carried Caden and dashed aside, taking the seat furthest away from Lucy.
"Caden!" Lucy looked at her son, who was holding an oyster, and smiled terrifyingly. "Haven't I told you not to hug me when your hands are oily?"
