Chasing Back My Ex-wife
Chapter 66
Lucy went blank for a moment. When she looked up, she saw shrimp shells by Arthur's hand... Had he peeled it for her?
"I don't like shrimp." Arthur explained stiffly, looking a little uneasy at being stared at.
Mrs. Figueroa smiled and said, "Mr. Johnson doesn't like shrimp, but he specially peeled it for Lucy. How thoughtful!"
"Here!" Mr. Figueroa immediately peeled a shrimp and put it on his wife's plate.
He could peel shrimp too. Where was his praise?
However, Mrs. Figueroa didn't even spare him a glance and just ate the shrimp. Mr. Figueroa felt unhappy.
Lucy looked at the shrimp on her plate and ended up eating it under Arthur's burning gaze. In return for his favor, she scooped him some salad.
Only after that did she remember that he didn't like salad.
"You..." She wanted to say that he could just leave it if he didn't like to eat it.
However, she only managed to get one word out before Arthur ate the salad naturally.
She had almost thought that his preferences had changed when she saw him swallow it without even chewing. After that, he even drank a whole bowl of mushroom soup in one go.
It turned out that...he still didn't like salad.
Lucy looked at his empty plate with mixed emotions.
Arthur followed her line of sight, which landed on the shrimp shells. He immediately understood and peeled a bunch of shrimps, then put them on her plate.
"Did you see that?" Mrs. Figueroa leaned over and whispered to Kylah, "Mr. Johnson is so nice to Lucy. Don't interfere with them!"
"Interfere? Mom, tell me the truth. Have you been charmed by his sweet talk?" Kylah was confused. What did her mother see that made her think Arthur was a good person?
"Shh!" Mrs. Figueroa tapped her on the head and pointed at the shrimp on Lucy's plate. "If Arthur didn't like Lucy, he wouldn't have peeled shrimp for her!"
Kylah rolled her eyes. How could a plate of shrimp prove Arthur's feelings for Lucy?
The six of them ate amidst their own thoughts, and by the time they finished, it was already 9 p.m.
"Thank you for your hospitality. I'll treat you to a meal some other day." Arthur said respectfully and humbly.
Kylah crossed her arms over her chest. "There's no need for that. We aren't starving!"
"Kylah, where are your manners?" Mrs. Figueroa looked at Kylah stormily, but when she turned to Arthur, she was all smiles. "Thank you in advance, Mr. Johnson!"
"There's no need to thank him! You guys are so kind to Lucy, so it's Arthur's job to treat you to a meal!" Chad put his arm around Arthur's shoulder and said cheerfully.
Mrs. Figueroa nodded with a smile and pulled Kylah aside. She kept feeling that Chad was not a decent person!
"Let's go." Arthur extended his hand towards Lucy.
Lucy subtly cast a glance upstairs, hesitated for moment, and took his hand.
It seemed like she could not see Caden that day!
Arthur smiled faintly and walked away while holding her hand. Chad followed behind them while chattering.
"Lucy!" Kylah rushed up to Lucy. "The little rascal keeps making a fuss wanting to see you. Won't you go see him?"
"Tell him that I will visit him when I have time." She couldn't let Arthur find out about Caden!
Kylah glanced at Arthur with displeasure. Just as she was about to speak, she was interrupted by Chad. "Kylah, are you done? The kid's your son, not Lucy's son. Why do you keep letting him pester her?"
"Okay, babe. I'll try my best to come tomorrow. Is that okay?" Chad's words made Lucy's heart beat wildly. She was afraid that he and Arthur would notice something!
Kylah knew to be careful too, so she agreed reluctantly and watched the trio leave.
On the second floor of the villa, Caden looked in the direction of the leaving car dejectedly, holding a toy gun.
...
Splash!
A basin of icy water splashed on Lizbeth.
Half an hour ago, she had been fed some medicine for her to sober up, and now that cold water was splashed onto her, she was totally sober.
She looked around the dilapidated factory. There were abandoned machines, dust, and spider webs everywhere. It was so dirty!
"Who sent you?" Lizbeth's gaze fell on two nasty-looking men, but she wasn't scared, just furious.
The two men did not respond. The shorter man stepped forward and slapped her in the face.
Before she could react, he slapped her a few more times.
After those few slaps, Lizbeth's fair, tender cheeks were swollen.
"How dare you slap me! Do you know who I am?!" The taste of blood filled her mouth and her face burned with pain, making her cry immediately.
"What a beauty!" The short man stooped and smiled very obscenely.
Hearing that, the taller man gulped and molested her with both hands.
