There was a flash of cold light in Jenson's eyes. "Are you kidding me, Mr. Pate?"

"It's just a casual remark. Mr. Wallace, don't take it to heart." Maddox did not like to deal with people like Jenson. However, for the sake of Lucy, he had no choice but to do so.

The two of them chatted for a while, and both of them hid their swords in their smiles.

At this time, there was a knock on the door.

Jenson put down his glass, raised his eyebrows slightly, and said with a smile, "Here she is. I'll go open the door."

He went over to open the door and leaned over to let the people outside in.

"Sorry, I'm late. I was delayed by something just now." Ruby was afraid that Lucy or other people would suspect her, so she deliberately took a detour.

Maddox didn't expect it to be her. "Are you Elyse?"

"Yes." Ruby nodded with a smile. "Are you surprised, Mr. Pate?"

"A little." It was said that Elyse was kind-hearted, gentle, and generous. How could she agree to do such a thing?

Ruby glanced in Jenson's direction meaningfully and said softly, "There's nothing to be surprised about. If you really love him, you're willing to do anything for him. Besides, Mr. Johnson is my boyfriend. Ms. Morgan is a meddler, isn't she?"

"Everyone thinks you're dead. Lucy is just your substitute, not a third party." Maddox did not like her to say that.

Ruby laughed. "It can be seen that Mr. Pate cares about Ms. Morgan very much, but I didn't mean to offend you. Don't be angry, Mr. Pate."

"Mr. Pate, you don't have to be so careful." Jenson curled his lips and said in a deep voice, "Now, are we going to start shooting?"

"Okay." Ruby looked at him intently, and there seemed to be a light flashing in her eyes.

...

When Lucy woke up, it was already dark.

Near the end of the year, some people were setting off fireworks, but it was too far away. When the fireworks bloomed, there was a bang, and only small colorful fireworks could be seen.

Lucy sat up, got out of bed, walked to the window, and quietly watched the fireworks in the distance.

Tomorrow was New Year's Eve. It was a good day for the family reunion, but she felt lonely from the bottom of her heart.

She usually spent the Spring Festival with Caden, the Figueroa family, and the employees of the company. But now, she couldn't see Caden, couldn't go to the Figueroa family, and lost the company... She was the only one left, and she had to watch Arthur and Elyse show their love every day.

She didn't know what she had done wrong to be punished like this!

"Knock! Knock! Knock!"

Aunty Julianne knocked on the door and walked in. She reminded him worriedly, "Sir, you're back and you're in a bad mood. Shall I bring you some rice?"

"Aren't you afraid of being scolded by him?" Lucy chuckled and comforted her. "I'm not afraid of him. He can't eat me. Let's go down and eat."

She wasn't in a good mood... Was it because she had burned Elyse's room that upset her?

Lucy walked down the stairs in a casual outfit and sat in her usual seat. She completely ignored Arthur and Ruby, who were sitting beside her, and ate calmly.

She felt that her mind was a little twisted. As long as she saw Elyse and Arthur unhappy, she would feel relaxed, and even the corners of her mouth could not help but curve upwards... But, why was she still feeling a little uncomfortable?

"Did you burn the room?" Arthur's voice was bone-chillingly cold, and his eyes were dark.

Before he got off work, he received an email from someone else who had sent him an anonymous message. Inside was Maddox and Lucy's large-scale bed photos. The technical staff had already checked it out. There were no signs of falseness in the photos!

Aunty Julianne answered before Lucy could. "I did it. I took something with a lighter and accidentally lit the house!"

Arthur gave her a cold glance. His gaze landed on Lucy's body. It was sharp and sinister.

"Right, it was me who made it." Lucy put down his chopsticks. He couldn't even think about having a good meal for today's dinner!

Ruby also put down her chopsticks and said with a sisterly face, "Ms. Morgan didn't mean it. She was angry, so she asked Aunty Julianne to burn the room with a lighter! Really, I don't mind that she burned my room, and I'm not afraid that there is no place to live tonight. I'll just go out to stay in the hotel. Don't blame Ms. Morgan!"

Aunty Julianne frowned and glared at her. "She's not helping my wife to explain? She's obviously adding fuel to the fire! This woman is so bad!"

"You don't have to stay in the hotel. Stay in her room tonight." Arthur simply ate two chopsticks, put down them, and wiped his mouth with a tissue.

"That won't do!" Ruby's eyes were full of worry. "Ms. Morgan is pregnant and her body is still very weak. Isn't it a good idea to let her sleep in a guest room without cleaning?"

"There's nothing bad about it." Arthur stood up with an expressionless face and went upstairs.

Ruby put on a proud face. "I'm really sorry, Ms. Morgan. I wanted to live in a hotel outside, but Arthur couldn't bear it."

She was so cheap that she wanted to slap herself now!

"Miss Maynard must have been disfigured." Lucy looked at her with her eyes full of sarcasm.
