Zak's appreciation for Lachlan was not hidden at all, from calling him his first name to even wanting to introduce his own daughter to him. Although it may have sounded abrupt, it was actually well thought out. His medical skills were so advanced that even Clifford felt inferior. The significance of befriending such a skilled doctor was self-evident. Furthermore, his martial arts skills were impressive upon first testing! Aside from the other benefits that could come with befriending Lachlan, just having someone like him develop in the military would mean limitless potential for the future.
