Xerxes’ Pov

I felt some movement beside me which woke me up.

I opened my eyes slowly and look towards the source of the movement and found my mate sleeping soundly with her head on my chest.

She mumbled something in her sleep, her one arm was around my torso as she hugged me tighter.

I slowly and tentatively pushed the lock of hair that was blocking her face, she looks so innocent and i took the time to stare at her.

She was beautiful, the most beautiful girl I've ever seen in my entire existence.

Her bright blue doe eyes filled with innocence, her tiny frame fits with my large ones perfectly, her long brown locks that cascade down her back effortlessly and her angelic voice.

She was perfect in everyway.

‘That will cost you, your heart and your empire’ These words rang in my ears making me pulled back from her almost instantly.

I got off the bed shaking my head in the process.

I can't be careless or weak now.

She stirred at little from my abrupt movement but didn't woke up, she stretch her arms and when her hand met with my pillow she pulled it towards her and hugged it.

She released a content sigh when she sniff the pillow.

My lips twitched and it threatened to break into a smile but I held myself back.

I can't let her do this to me.
