If Joyce is still unable to fall in love with Justin even after the two get together, then all the time, effort, and love that he commits into their relationship will be for nothing.

To stay with a person you dont love is a form of torture in itself, so Joyce will eventually break up with him.She will still have her child with her, but Justin won't be getting back the time and effort he has given them.

Since Justin isn't the father of the child to begin with, he won't even be able to gain custody over the child.
