Fled With CEO’s Twin Babies

Chapter 886 A Flicker of Fire in the Forest

Following Charlotte’s pointing direction, Joe indeed saw a faint flicker of fire deep within the forest.

If they hadn’t happened to walk to the edge of the forest, they might not have noticed the fire at all.

They exchanged a glance, both immediately thinking the same question.

Who was there?

Joe pondered for a moment. “Let’s go back first and ask the staff on the island.”

Although the island belonged to Charlotte, there were also several staff members on the island. Maybe they were inside.

Charlotte nodded, taking one last look at the depths of the forest before returning to the villa area with Joe.

Ben and Anna were already tired from playing and had been taken back to sleep by Gorya.

Sharon saw Joe and Charlotte and let out a sarcastic chuckle. “Well, well! The busy couple is finally back.”
Joe glanced at her indifferently and beckoned the manager responsible for staff
management.
The manager became anxious, thinking there might be an issue with personnel
management, and quickly asked, “Did they make any mistakes in their work?”
Joe shook his head. “No, don’t worry.”
The manager finally breathed a sigh of relief.
“We saw a flicker of fire at the edge of the forest just now. Could there be any
staff inside?” Joe asked.
The manager was momentarily taken aback and quickly shook their head. “Our
employee handbook clearly states that unauthorized entry into the forest is not

allowed. It’s unlikely that anyone would violate that.”
To verify his words, the manager asked someone to carefully count the
employees on the island and found that everyone was at their respective
positions and no one had left.
After listening to the manager’s report, Charlotte and Joe exchanged glances.
Charlotte smiled and said, “Perhaps I made a mistake. Just make sure everyone
stays safe.”
The manager quickly nodded and turned to instruct the employees.
Sharon, with a mocking expression, walked over. “What were you two doing by
the seaside? How can you make a mistake even in the late evening?”
Charlotte’s expression turned serious, and she shook her head. “I didn’t make a
mistake.”
Sharon’s smile froze on their face. He knew Charlotte wasn’t someone who made
baseless claims. “Are you sure you saw a flicker of fire?”
“I saw it, too,” Joe nodded in agreement.
Perhaps one person could have been mistaken, but it was unlikely for both of
them to have a hallucination at the same time.
“But there should only be us on the island…”
As Sharon spoke, their expression also turned serious.
“We should go and take a look together,” Mandy and Jack joined in. If it wasn’t
the island’s staff, it could only mean that a third group had arrived in the morning.
