Chapter 43: Broken her

Dominic held Athena’s small and cold hand tightly in his large fist while looking at her carefully.

Her face was filled with different wounds and cuts. He slowly and shakily raised his hands and touched her face delicately as if she would break down any moment. And all the places he was touching, the marks were vanishing into thin air.

She opened her eyes and groaned in pain when she went to sit up abruptly.

“Careful! Don’t move so fast. You are going to open up your wounds.” He warned while holding her hands. She looked at him confused first and then in anger before she pushed him away with a hard push, not caring about the pain she was in.

“Stay away from me! Do you hear me?!” She shouted as she looked at him in pure anger.

“Athena?” He looked at him in confusion.

“Don’t fucking call my name! Stay away from me. Get out! All these things are happening because of you.” She cried out loud while suddenly looking around with fearful eyes. That’s when he realised something was wrong with her.

“Athena… calm down… what’s wrong?” He asked in a slow yet careful tone.

“How dare you ask me that?! Because of you I am going to die! He is going to kill me! I need to save myself. I need to save myself for my son. Or he would kill us.” Athena shouted before quickly getting down from the bed, shocking him. He took a step toward her and she instantly stepped away.

“Athena! What’s wrong?! What are you talking about? Calm down! Are you absolutely okay!” He shouted at her but she wasn’t having it. She threw everything off of the side tables and threw things at him.

“Stay away from me, you monster! Stay away.” She shouted as she kept throwing things.

He quickly took large steps toward her when he realised that she wasn’t in the right state of mind and injured herself even farther. He needed to calm her down. So, he forcefully went toward her, despite the abuse she was implementing at her.

“Leave me! I said leave me!” She shouted but he hugged her tightly. He didn’t let her move at all as he kept his hand wrapped around her with no intention to leave.

“Shh… shh… everything is okay. You are okay. Ace is okay. You both are safe. Calm down please. You are safe with me. I will never let anything happen to you.” He whispered and she looked up at him with droopy eyes.

“Do you promise?”

“I promise.”
