Chapter 404 Change My Dressing

While they were talking. Daphne’s face suddenly changed. She abruptly stood up and exclaimed, “What are you doing here?”

When Lysander looked up, she saw a familiar figure.

However, she was far from her usual commanding and condescending self. She was drenched from head to toe, draped in a white bath towel. Her wet hair clung to her scalp, making her look quite disheveled.

“I’m here to see my mom.”

Daphne didn’t even try to hide her displeasure with her. “Where were you earlier? Your mom was hospitalized, and it was Lysander and Mr. Thorne who took turns to look after her. Have you been hiding at home, enjoying yourself?”

Tears welled up in Lysanne’s eyes. “It’s not that I didn’t want to come; it’s just that…”

“What? Your legs are your own. Who could possibly stop you if you decided to come? Were you tied up or locked away?”

“I-”

“Lysanne.”

Josiah appeared right then.

He also spotted Daphne and Lysander, and his face contorted. “Daphne, did you come to see Lysander?”

Daphne’s eyes darted back and forth between him and Lysanne a few times before she suddenly burst into laughter. “Mr. Guerra, please don’t address me so familiarly. I wouldn’t want people to accuse me of trying to cozy up to the illustrious Guerra family. You should just call me Ms. Everhart.”

Josiah was holding a bag of medicine in his hand. It seemed that he had just collected it.

Daphne gave a quick glance. “Is it Mrs. Thorne’s medicine? Thanks for making the trip, Mr. Guerra. Hand it over to me, please.”

No sooner had Daphne reached out her hand than it was gently brushed aside.

Lysander drew her hand back. “Someone will deliver Molly’s medicine.”

Daphne picked up on the underlying message. She glanced at the soaking–wet Lysanne, raised an eyebrow, and asked “I see. So, you went to fetch medicine for Ms. Lysanne, didn’t you, Mr. Guerra?”

I got a call from my mom. The Thorne manor had caught fire. Both our houses were built entirely of wood, so you can imagine the disaster once it started burning.
