Chapter 29
Thaddeus walked in, his towering figure almost filled the entire doorway, like a giant suddenly breaking in.
A tailor was ironing clothes, and his expression turned quite surprised when he saw this Impressive man. “Well, it’s you!”
“I’m willing to pay any price, please help me out.” Thaddeus looked anxious as he opened the box he was holding.
“Oh, my Go d. What happened? How did such a good piece of clothing end up like this?” The tailor cherished clothes, and it pained him to see such a nice suit ruined so badly.
“I messed it up.” Thaddeus could only say this.
“This suit was sewn by the girl herself, and I watched her painstakingly complete it.” The tailor sadly shook his head, “What a pity, such a good suit…”
“Is there any way to fix it?” Thaddeus anxiously asked.
“How can this be fixed? If only the inside was damaged, it could be repaired, but both the inside and outside are damaged. Even if it’s repaired it can’t be restored to its original state.”
Hearing this, Thaddeus’s heart tightened. “Just try your best to fix it. Even if there are traces after the repair, at least the hole can be sewn up.”
As soon as Thaddeus returned to Windermere Estate, he felt a suffocating atmosphere.
“Thaddeus.” Elspeth’s eldest daughter, Glynnis hurriedly came over, “Grandpa came, he’s upstairs in the study arguing with dad. You have to stop them!”
“Why are they arguing?” Thaddeus furrowed his brow.
In his eyes, Frederic was a very good child, or at least he gave off that impression to outsiders.

Grandpa had a stroke and high blood pressure, and couldn’t easily get angry. Frederic even went against his usual principle to argue with grandpa; there could only be one possible reason – for his stepmother, Elspeth.
“Acacia is related to our Abernathy family, and it’s only right for dad to help the Stirling family in their time of need.” Glynnis stamped her foot in frustration, “But grandpa won’t let dad help the Stirling group. Isn’t grandpa being foolish? Helping the Stirling group is like helping our own family, right? Thaddeus, you’re about to marry Acacia. If this matter isn’t resolved, the dignity of our Abernathy family can’t be preserved.”
Thaddeus’s eyes darkened as he quickly ascended the stairs.
Hamiltion sat in a wheelchair, picking up the ashtray and cup on the table and throwing them on the floor. He was eighty years old, and the older he got, the angrier he became. If anything upset him, he would start smashing things.
Elspeth wiped her tears with a handkerchief, crying in Frederic’s arms. Frederic used his body to protect her, fearing the shattered cup would cut her. “Dad, can you calm down? Can’t we talk properly?”
“If you do what you should do, I’ll reason with you. If you do what you shouldn’t, I can only use force to stop you.” Hamiltion was so furious that he pounded his chest, “What did I tell you? I told you not to meddle in the Stirling group’s affairs. And you actually went behind my back?!
You’re helping them clear their backlog of goods, transferring the Abernathy group’s projects to them. Has your brain been muddled by this woman? Do you think I’m already dead?”
“Dad, how can you say that?” Frederic was so angry he was lost for words, but he didn’t dare to talk back directly.
“Am I wrong? Ever since you married this woman, your thinking has become unclear.” Hamiltion hit the armrests of the wheelchair hard. Elspeth tearfully said, “I know you look down on me, but I feel that since Frederic and I have been together for over twenty years, I’ve always taken care of the family, served the Abernathy family with all my heart, lived very cautiously, sincerely and fearfully. I’ve never gone against your wishes, never brought trouble to the Abernathy family… because I know marrying Frederic was a gift from you, and I dare not wish for anything else.”
Frederic looked at his wife in his arms with gentle gazes. But Hamiltion saw through her fake humble facade. He was so angry that his wheelchair shook.
Elspeth continued, “My sister is an honest businesswoman… it’s too unjust for her to be slandered like this for no reason. And Acacia is about to marry Thaddeus, this matter…”
“An honest businesswoman? I think it’s more like a swindler.” Hamiltion laughed coldly.
Elspeth’s expression froze for a moment.
“Don’t think that because I’m old and retired that I don’t know anything. The Stirling group brought this on themselves, their business is unclear, and in the end, they can only reap what they’ve sown. You don’t need to use Thaddeus to pressure me, if he wants to marry Acacia from the Stirling family, I won’t recognize him as my grandson. You guys just live your lives, and when I die one day I don’t need you to mourn for me.”
“Dad.” Frederic sighed.
Elspeth cried, but her eyes were extremely cold. She had been oppressed by Hamiltion for over twenty years, she had had enough. She hoped that Hamilton would just quietly die, and die with his wishes never fulfilled.
“Grandpa.” Thaddeus quickly came in, reaching out to pat Hamilton’s back, but was pushed away by Hamiltion,
“Don’t pretend to care. You and your father are the same, all running around for this woman.”
“I won’t help the Stirling group. I’ve already stated my position.” Thaddeus’s eyes were exceptionally calm.
Hamition’s eyes it up instantly. “Really?!”
“Yeah, the Stirling group is indeed a hot mess, so I’m not lifting a finger for them.”
“And what about you and the Stirling family’s Acacia…
“That’s got nothing to do with Acacia. Our wedding is still on.” Thaddeus replied co olly.
