Thaddeus‘ heart pounded furiously, his gaze on Evadne softer than it had ever been before.

Camille’s face was a mask of confusion upon seeing Evadne. She had a million questions swirling in her mind, yet she found herself unable to voice any of them. “Thaddeus, why are you here?” Evadne asked with a detached tone.

Seeing the lack of any affection in her demeanor, as if their shared past and near–death experience meant nothing, Thaddeus‘ heart sank. Nevertheless, he replied sincerely, “I came to see you.”
