Chapter 268

Elena

“Come on, just work along for once!” Tori scolded me as she forced her nose underneath my armpits.

I could hardly believe that I was just an hour away from meeting the potential love of my life, Marvin. It was already surprising that a goody-two-shoes like me was able to look past all the charges so that I could be with him.

What if he would bail on me?

What if this was just one of his stupid jokes?

“You smell like roses. Let’s keep it that way.” Tori smiled as she placed her hands on my shoulder. She had stopped by my house to do my makeup because apparently. I sucked at it. Usually, I would complain, but this time I didn’t mind it at all.

I wanted to look good for Marvin, and I wanted to show him that I was the exact person from the pictures. “Will you be able to do this on your own tomorrow?” Victoria asked.

I gave her a confident nod. “For the wedding? Yes, of course.”

The wedding was the least important thing on my mind as all I could think of was Marvin. It was a good thing that my dad and my brother weren’t at home today because I was not in the mood for any questions.

What would I even tell them?

Oh, no big deal. I’m just going out to meet my former criminal crush, but don’t you guys worry-he said he was wrongfully convicted.

“Can I see one last picture of him?” Tori almost begged me. “I just want to see if this Marvin is worth the

effort.”

I rolled my eyes with a slight smirk on my face and pulled out my phone. Marvin was a catch, and I had no problem showing him off. I showed Tori the picture and watched as she squinted her eyes. “Yes, he’s definitely worth the effort.” She chuckled.

“He looks familiar…it’s almost as if I’ve seen him before.”
