Clare never considered them so close, a Caster and an Angel, together, sitting under the same sky. Different blood, but still brothers in a way, and there she was, guilt filling inside her. What had she done, kissing Kole? She couldn’t understand his resilience before, but now it stood as clear as the setting sun behind the two men. Clare spotted Nathan and the others further down surrounding a tree. She stepped out from the one she hid behind to face the both of them, Caster and Angel staring at her. Seeing Kole, his eyes unfolding everything she needed to know, as he turned his tormented face away.

She looked at Kalbreal, not knowing how to see him anymore, because at that moment, in front of her, sat a guy, in love with a girl, with the hope that she loved him too. All Clare knew at that moment was that she had definitely caught the eye of the handsome Angel and Kole’s reasons for choosing to deny her. She didn’t fault him. She knew in her heart, walking towards them, sitting silently next to Kalbreal, that she herself couldn’t bear to lose her Angel.

Clare put her arm around her, “I’m Clare, the sister, are you Elvan.”
