I Am Unstoppable

Chapter 228

“I'm the one you're after, Gabriel. Lailah has nothing to do with this, so please spare her life,” Jonathan said after giving it some thought.

Gabriel let out a sinister chuckle. “Spare her life?”

“She won't kill you because she still needs your help,” Jonathan added.

Lailah glanced at Jonathan when she heard that. What? He's begging Gabriel to spare my life? Why would he do that? I'm the reason we're in this situation right now! Shouldn't he be blaming me instead?

“I can't believe a smart guy like you would say something so stupid, Jonathan. First of all, there's no way to confirm if Lailah will come after me for revenge, so that remains unknown for the time being. However, I do know for a fact that I am the one in control of her life right now, so why should I spare her life? Besides, you two have excellent brain waves and spiritual energy. I'm planning on absorbing them for my own personal use!” Gabriel replied coldly with a sneer.

Jonathan's heart sank as he realized nothing he said would be of any use.

Gabriel is a cruel and heartless b*stard. He's not the kind of person who would show mercy to women and children.

With that in mind, Jonathan kept quiet and tried to establish a connection with his body.

“Please, don't even bother. You were lucky Master Yarrow was there to help you out back then, but that's not the case this time. King Sergiu could probably save you if he were to come back to life somehow, but his skeletons are all that remains of him now! We're the only souls in this place, so no one will be coming to your rescue! Death is all that awaits you two!” Gabriel said with a sneer.

Jonathan silently clenched his teeth in frustration.

“I'm sorry, Jonathan. This is all my fault,” Lailah whispered from the side.

Jonathan simply laughed it off nonchalantly. “This is my choice too. Don't worry. I can take responsibility for my own decisions.”

Gabriel let out a chuckle when he heard that. “Jonathan, I was going to use the Curb of Kismet to steal your luck back then, but then you lucked out somehow. Let's see if you get lucky this time!”

Jonathan shot Gabriel a cold glare and shouted, “Look, if you're going to kill us, then hurry up and get it over with! Stop going on and on about it like a broken record, you f*cking w*ss!”

There was a hint of anger in Gabriel's eyes, but he suppressed it fairly quickly and regained his composure seconds later.

The next thing they knew, he began making his way toward Lailah.

“What are you doing?” Lailah asked cautiously while glaring at him.

“Your spiritual energy is pretty strong. I'm going to suck it out of you first. Once I get stronger, I'll use the Curb of Kismet to steal Jonathan's luck!” Gabriel replied as he placed his hand over Lailah's forehead.

Jonathan tensed up when he saw that. He had wanted to say something in response but held his tongue, as he knew it was pointless.

Lailah isn't in a position to fight back at all, so nothing I say will make a difference anyway.

After what seemed like forever, Gabriel finally released his grip on Lailah's forehead. He looked so vibrant and full of energy that one would think he had just come back from a spa treatment.

Lailah, on the other hand, looked extremely pale as if she was malnourished. She slumped weakly to the ground a few seconds later, much to Jonathan's horror.

“Lailah! Can you hear me? Lailah!” he screamed at the top of his lungs.

“Shut up, Jonathan! She's not dead just yet. You see, her brain is currently in a spiritual energy deficit. Without sufficient spiritual energy to keep the brain functioning, her body will slowly shut down as her organs fail one after another, eventually resulting in her death.” Gabriel then paused briefly to look at Jonathan. “Enough talk, Jonathan. It's time we settle our score once and for all. You put me through all sorts of humiliation back then. Now, I'm going to return the favor!”

Jonathan simply clenched his teeth and kept quiet.

“Hmph, what a disappointing response!” Gabriel mumbled as he slapped Jonathan twice across the face.

Jonathan could feel a mysterious sucking force coming from Gabriel's hand when he placed it against his forehead.

The next thing he knew, he started getting dizzier and dizzier with each passing second.

It took Gabriel half an hour just to drain Jonathan of all his spiritual energy. By the time he was done, Jonathan was so disoriented that he couldn't even find his bearings. His face was pale as he stumbled and collapsed to the ground.

Gabriel then used the Curb of Kismet on him, only to realize halfway through the spell that Jonathan's luck was suddenly gone.

“What's going on?” Gabriel exclaimed in confusion.

He tried a bunch of other methods, but nothing seemed to be working.

“I don't understand... This is so strange...” Gabriel mumbled helplessly to himself.

There were a lot of conditions that had to be met when I used the Curb of Kismet on Jonathan back in Crimson Onyx Town, but that shouldn't be the case here. Jonathan has lost all of his spiritual energy now, so he shouldn't have any strength left to resist. On top of that, my spiritual energy received a huge boost after I entered the Divine Realm and got my hands on all those elixir pills. I can use the Curb of Kismet at will now. But why can't I suck Jonathan's luck?

After giving it some thought, Gabriel had a sudden realization and understood what was going on.

Oh, right! Jonathan is under my control and on the verge of dying! It makes sense for a dying person to have their luck run out! After all, you can't be lucky if you're dying. I can't suck his luck if he doesn't have any left, can I?

He grabbed the Holy Chest and Sinai Bible and left the tomb.

Gabriel didn't kill Jonathan and Lailah with his own hands. Of course, that wasn't an act of mercy on his part, nor was it a careless mistake of not tying up loose ends. It was simply because Jonathan and Lailah still had strength in their bodies even though they had been drained of their spiritual energy.

Their bodies would still instinctively respond to danger even if their minds weren't functioning well. Gabriel figured he would only get killed by Jonathan and Lailah if he tried to take their lives.

Since he knew where the exit was, he grabbed the treasures and quickly made his way out of the tomb.

The sky was still dark when he got out, and an endless desert was all that he could see.

Strong winds were blowing sand all over the place.

Gabriel wrapped the treasures in a rag and fired a signal flare into the sky.

About fifteen minutes later, Isaac's helicopter came flying toward him. Gabriel boarded the helicopter and headed straight for Yeringham.

He wouldn't tell anyone about King Sergiu's secret, as it would be of use to him in the future. On top of that, he had total control over Isaac. He could erase the latter's memories completely. Therefore, he had no reason to worry about Isaac plotting against him.

Meanwhile, Jonathan and Lailah were still on the verge of dying from mental exhaustion inside the dark tomb.

Unbeknownst to Jonathan, the Lunar Pendant that he had on would end up saving his life.

The Lunar Pendant had secretly stored all of Jonathan's luck inside itself when Gabriel was sucking his luck earlier. That was why his luck had disappeared all of a sudden.

As the Lunar Pendant activated itself, it returned all of Jonathan's luck to his body and released a powerful wave of spiritual energy into his mind.

All Jonathan felt was a chilly sensation on his chest as icy-cold energy flowed into his brain.

About an hour later, Jonathan's eyes shot wide open. He had regained his spiritual energy as well as his physical strength.

Still feeling a little woozy as he leaped to his feet, he shook his head to clear it up.

That was when he recalled what had happened earlier.

Wait, I remember now... Gabriel sucked all the spiritual energy out of me! But if that's the case, why am I perfectly fine? Wait, I recall feeling an icy-cold sensation in my body earlier... Oh, I get it! It's the Lunar Pendant!

Jonathan felt the same chilly sensation again when he retrieved the Lunar Pendant and held it in his hands, albeit to a lesser degree compared to before.

Fortune favors fools, huh?

Jonathan was about to celebrate with joy when his gaze fell upon Lailah, who was lying motionless on the side.
