I Am Unstoppable

Chapter 233

“All right,” Jonathan agreed. He then gestured at the server for the bill.

Lance did not try to fight for the bill. To him, these were trivial matters not worth fighting over.

After footing the bill, Jonathan went out of the bar with Lance.

The two had quite a few drinks, and they would be in trouble if they bumped into the cops while driving.

After all, Lostaria was quite strict with its laws about driving under the influence.

“Why don't we walk back?” Lance suggested to Jonathan.

Jonathan paused in his tracks. Honestly, he was a little lazy and wanted to take the cab back, for it was a distance from their location to Mount Frallein.

Still, Lance was the one who made the suggestion, and as Lance's junior, he had to agree with it. “Okay.”

Lance smiled at his agreement. “Let's go.”

The two began walking down the path home. Jonathan did not want to embarrass himself in front of his senior, so he kept a certain pace.

However, he soon realized that Lance was as quick as he was. In fact, Lance made his swift pace look casual.

There were only a few cars on the main road in the wee hours of the morning.

The street lights were bright, and the morning wind was freezing.

The chilly breeze of January was the most tormenting wind.

Jonathan refused to admit defeat, so he quickened his footsteps.

Nevertheless, Lance was still as quick as Jonathan and as nonchalant as ever.

That tickled Jonathan's urge to compete. He channeled his vitality and discreetly used Shadow Step to speed up.

In the next second, Jonathan became as quick as a car.

However, Lance was still by Jonathan's side, completely unfazed.

Jonathan stubbornly persisted in channeling his vitality.

Lance remained by his side the entire time.

At one point, Jonathan used his cultivation technique to its maximum potential and even activated the power of Haemocore.

By then, he was much faster than any race car—so fast that he even left an afterimage.

In the blink of an eye, he was twenty miles ahead.

“Young man, are you trying to race with me?” Lance asked with a bitter chuckle.

He was still leisurely walking beside Jonathan.

Furthermore, Jonathan could see that Lance had not channeled nor used any techniques at all.

By then, Jonathan could only surrender. He slowed down and returned the bitter chuckle at Lance. “Mr. Cadman, you're brilliant. I'm impressed.”

“Just a simple trick,” Lance commented as he slowed down.

Jonathan was confused by what just happened, however. “You seem nonchalant the entire time. It doesn't look like you've channeled your vitality. How did you move so quickly?”

Lance explained, “There is a magnetic field and molecules in the air where many identical molecules are strung together. If you step through them quickly, you'll connect those identical molecules in series. It's akin to traveling in the void. To be honest, this effect is sometimes triggered when people walk. Sometimes, we reach our destination much quicker than expected even though we're using the same route. That's molecular tandem.”

Jonathan stiffened at that, having felt that before.

“The time spent is the same, however,” he then said. “There isn't much difference in the duration of the route.”

“The likelihood of an unintentional molecular tandem is low. However, when you cross over, the time molecules cross with you. That's why time passes by. Sometimes, you feel like much time has passed, but when you check the time, it's only been a few minutes. Sometimes, you feel like little time has gone by, but in fact, a month has passed. That's the theory.”

At that moment, a realization hit Jonathan. “I never thought they'd be related. What you've said are the things we encounter in our daily lives, but no one will ever think of that connection!”

Lance went on, “There's a consequence to everything. There is a scientific explanation for every magical or mythical phenomenon. Science isn't against fairy tales. Science is about seeing things from an objective angle and explaining the happenings with science. No one can fly without reason. We need to explain how he flies with the theory of gravity. Why can he be exempted from that theory? There must a reason behind this. The core of science is to not engage in blind worship. Always have questions and question everything that happens. The truth will never be known unless studied. Fairy tales have no scientific basis, so most people are made to believe that things come out of nowhere. They serve to trick and make others fear to even doubt it.”

Jonathan was all ears as he was utterly impressed by Lance's speech.

It was because everything Lance said was not baseless. Lance was not forcing Jonathan to believe in him just because he was older.

By then, the two men were already on the way to Mount Frallein.

There were even fewer cars around, but the path they walked was still brightly illuminated.

It was a dark night with no moon, and they were surrounded by dense trees.

The inside of the forest was even darker than the road.

Just then, Lance paused in his tracks.

Jonathan stopped in surprise and turned to Lance. “What's the matter, Mr. Cadman?”

Lance snapped his brows together. “It's been a long while since my last visit here, but the moment I'm here, they're here too.”

Jonathan could guess that Lance's enemies must have come.

His heart lurched. Those who could be Lance's enemies and had the guts to take revenge on Lance were definitely not any average Joe.

Just as Lance said that, rustling sounds came from the forest.

Not long after, four shadows surrounded Lance and Jonathan.

“Chanaean Dragon, it's been a while!” said one of the two, who was an old man with a creepy voice.

Jonathan turned to the old man and realized that the old man was Chanaean. He was in a black robe, and he looked like he was in his sixties. The wrinkles on his face were almost like carvings, but his eyes were still as bright as a young man's. Jonathan could somewhat sense the powerful aura emanating from the old man.

Perhaps that sensation was a warning from his instincts. If Jonathan had been alone there, it was likely he would have had trouble breathing.

This old man's no weaker than Catherine's grandpa in terms of cultivation. That was the conclusion Jonathan came to in a flash.

However, standing beside the black-robed old man was an Anglandurn man with extremely pale skin and blonde hair. He looked like he was in his forties, but that was merely his appearance.

Jonathan could not decipher the actual age of the Anglandurn man. Furthermore, he noticed that the man's eyes were the color of blood red, which made him look even creepier in the dark night. His lips were bright red too as if he was a vampire from the legends.

Then, Jonathan glanced at the two men in the back and noted that they were both in their fifties. Like the old man, they were Chanaean too.

So they're powerful based on their cultivation. People I should be looking up to. I'd be instantly killed if I bumped into them alone. Lucio is strong, but if I were to compare him to these people, he would be akin to a three-year-old.
