I Am Unstoppable

Chapter 397

Jonathan's heartfelt cry came from the bottom of his heart.

There was no denying that he had been drinking fresh blood from living humans for the past few days. Just because he seemed tough and was actually tough didn't mean he was so cold-blooded that he was emotionally numb.

Whether one laughed, cried, or grew insane, that was still a part of living. How one lived one's life depended wholly on one's own choices.

Simon was ready to kill ruthlessly, while Lesley was prepared to die.

As for Jonathan, he was someone with a resolve that was a mix of theirs.

Standing on the verge of his own death, he chose to follow Simon's arrangement.

Simon went quiet for a while before saying, “You know it in your heart that if you succeed in the future, no one will care about or speak of what you do today.”

“I never cared if others saw me as a demon or a ghost,” replied Jonathan.

“Good! That's good. You're truly my comrade, Jonathan. Today's the third day, and this lady is your last dose of antidote. I can't help you plan out what happens next. It's your call how you wish to traverse your path. Initially, Lesley and I planned to stay and help you out. However, we all have our own destiny. Lesley has chosen his path, so I can't be your subordinate anymore. Hence, I'll leave now, too. If we're lucky, we'll meet again.”

Jonathan was speechless.

Soon, Simon turned around and vanished into the night.

He seemed to have forgotten something, which was that the lady's artery wasn't severed yet. If Jonathan wanted to live, he had to kill the person with his own hands.

Meanwhile, Leahra arrived with her blood lotus throne at the Dietrich residence.

A scarlet glow enveloped the Dietrich residence's courtyard in the night, which was the most beautiful glow for vampires.

Solorel and the others immediately rushed out of the building and greeted her by kneeling. The vampires were excited because they had finally met the legendary primogenitor.

The crowd hailed Leahra in unison.

Though, amusingly, the language they spoke was different. Some were shouting in Ustranasian, while others used Irushean.

Leahra, in her white attire, appeared like an immortal descending from the heavens.

Upon retracting the blood lotus throne back into her forehead, she waved her sleeve. “Rise.”

The crowd thanked and stood.

In the next moment, Solorel guided Leahra into the hall.

Leahra sat in the highest spot in the hall while everyone else remained below her respectfully, including Solorel, Aurora, and Bane.

After staying silent for a while, Leahra spoke. “Prince Solorel, ever since the previous King, Hoborow, was assassinated, Gulden Vampir's bloodline hasn't had a King for three hundred years. Now that the Great Tribulation is upon us, and the death tribulation is everywhere, I think it's time to pick a new King.”

Solorel and the others were taken aback.

Immediately, Solorel inquired, “Our wise, revered ancestor, who will you pick to become the new King?”

Leahra answered, “I already have someone in mind. Jonathan Lawson.”

“Him?” Solorel and the others were appalled. “Jonathan is an outsider! No one has been chosen for the position of King for three centuries, so why did you choose Jonathan?”

“He's not an outsider because he has inherited my bloodline. From my perspective, he's the perfect fit for the position.”

Solorel was rendered speechless.

“This matter is decided. No further discussion is required!” Waving her sleeve, Leahra declared, “Everyone else, leave!”

The crowd didn't have the nerve to oppose their primogenitor, so they bowed and left.

Soon, only Solorel and Leahra were left in the hall.

“Revered ancestor!” A bitter smile formed on Solorel's countenance. “We don't have the nerve to disobey your decision. However, even if Jonathan possesses your bloodline, he doesn't have any foundation in vampire society. It may be difficult for him to command respect as King. Additionally, the vampire princes and marquises will be displeased with him. If that happens, there will be trouble.”

Glancing at Solorel, Leahra explained, “I can't protect all of you forever, Solorel. Soon, I'll leave the planet to experience the tribulation in The Void. Whether I succeed or not, I won't be returning here for the next couple hundred years. Everything I'm doing, I'm doing it for all of you who belong to my bloodline and not for anyone else. I'm afraid vampires will have gone extinct by the time I come back to this planet.” She paused before continuing, “You and everyone else's survival depends on Jonathan. If you all ungratefully squander this opportunity, then you have no one to blame but yourselves. I've done all I can.”

Solorel's heart was suddenly flooded with anxiety. “You're leaving?” A silent lapse ensued before he spoke again. “However, I still don't understand why you think so highly of Jonathan.”

“Firstly, he's a Chosen One. The most important thing about him is that he has a destiny. Secondly, he's kind. The only way all of you can become kind is to have him be your leader. Thirdly, while he's compassionate, he isn't a softie. He's capable of making difficult decisions at critical moments. I know the princes won't accept this announcement easily. However, I think I did it in a way that'll lend legitimacy to Jonathan. In the future, I want you to aid Jonathan as much as you can.”

It was then Solorel truly grasped Leahra's intention. “As you wish, revered ancestor.”

Nodding, Leahra said, “Let's go see Jonathan now. Perhaps you'll understand why I chose him after you see him.”

Meanwhile, Jonathan was sitting quietly on the empty road, which he had been doing for the past three hours.

It was one in the morning at that moment.

Simon had already headed to Protector Condominium. He took Elijah away and told Mabel, as well as Beatrix, that Jonathan was on that road.

The women were worried something would happen to Jonathan, so they went to find him.

Soon, they spotted Jonathan.

However, they didn't bother him because they noticed his agony.

They understood Jonathan well.

Lesley's departure was due to guilt, so there is no way Jonathan is as nonchalant as he appears to be. Mabel was the most aware of how kind and passionate Jonathan was.

Three hours later, Leahra and Solorel arrived at the side of the road. They also stared at Jonathan.

The silver moonlight landed on Jonathan and the unconscious lady.

The lady was about eighteen years old, and she was a Chanaean. Additionally, she was pretty and looked clean.

Suddenly, her eyelids were lifted, and she stared straight at Jonathan.

The first sentence out of her mouth was a question. “Are you Jonathan?”

Jonathan knitted his eyebrows slightly. “You know me?”
