Everyone had the same question in their minds.

Jonathan said in a deep voice, “The revered ancestor has left me a silk pouch. If we face an unavoidable crisis, we can seek refuge in Fog City.”

Fog City!

Walrion asked, “Is there a secret place in Fog City that we don't know about?”

Beatrix answered solemnly, “Even if there is, we don't have any more time. Anakin and the rest are coming soon.”

The sounds of footsteps grew louder, indicating that they were about to arrive.

Jonathan had no other way.

He scanned his surroundings, but he could not see anything amiss.

At that moment, Fog City began to change.

The fog in the air started to gather toward where the revered ancestor was cultivating.

It was gathering at such a rapid speed that it immediately formed a huge vortex.

“It's a passage toward the dimensional space!” exclaimed Beatrix, delighted. “The passage can only last for at most ten seconds. Everyone, enter now!” She was the first to leap into the fog vortex.

Jonathan said to Yeverie and Aurora, “Go ahead.”

Aurora and Yeverie were touched that Jonathan let them escape first even during such a critical moment. Not daring to delay any longer, they quickly jumped into the fog vortex.

“Mabel!” yelled Jonathan.

Soon, Mabel jumped in as well.

“Walrion!” continued Jonathan.

To avoid wasting any time, Walrion hopped in as well.

At that moment when Anakin kicked the door open, Jonathan swiftly jumped into the fog vortex.

By the time Anakin's party entered, the fog vortex gradually disappeared. It eventually dispersed into the endless fog that filled Fog City.

“F*ck!” spat Anakin furiously.

Larry and the rest entered too.

“Your Highness, where did they go?” he asked, confused. We followed them in! They can't possibly have disappeared into thin air, right?

Anakin's face contorted with fury as he yelled, “Leahra, that b*tch! She left a passage to the dimensional space here! B*tch! I'm her descendant. How dare she hand over our kingdom to an outsider?”

With his anger reaching its peak, Anakin blew up Leahra's throne and obliterated it with a single blow.

The onlookers, including Larry, were seized with a mixture of shock and terror. They thought that Anakin was too arrogant and disrespectful toward Leahra.

“What should we do now?” asked Larry.

Anakin took a deep breath, trying to quell the flames of anger burning within him. “How many marquises are still alive?” he asked.

Larry answered, “Only four remain, but they're all wounded.”

Anakin said, “Very well. Tell them, if they are willing to pledge loyalty to me, their past transgressions shall be forgiven. If not, they will be instantly sentenced to death.”

“Understood,” replied Larry.

Anakin continued, “And announce that Jonathan and his companions have died. Do not let the slightest whisper of their escape get out.”

“Got it!”

Anakin turned to his subordinates behind him. “What about you guys?”

“Understood!” replied everyone instantly.

On this fateful night, a definitive shift in power among the Dietrich family unfolded, with Anakin emerging as the unrivaled victor.

Solorel's lifeless corpse was hung outside the castle walls.

Caught between the choices of life and death, the Four Marquises decided to pledge their allegiance to Anakin.












































































It was not a surprising choice, for everyone fears death.

Moreover, the Four Marquises had their own hidden motives. They believed that their king had not perished. Should he return in the future, they wished to remain in his service and be useful to him.

Anakin understood that as well, so he did not fully trust the Four Marquises. Only the most tiring and tedious tasks would be entrusted to them.

If he succeeded in killing Jonathan, he would still be able to win the Four Marquises' loyalty.

Anakin had lost some capable warriors in this endeavor as well. The princes were becoming restless. After all, those vampire viscounts and dukes were far from virtuous subjects. To consolidate his rule and hold on to his power, Anakin knew he must strengthen his subordinates' powers.

Feeling the poison slowly attack his heart, he knew that nothing could save him anymore.

Will there be another miracle? No way. How can there be so many miracles in this world? Even if there's a miracle, how special must it be to be able to save my life?

Lesley could not envision it.

However, at that moment, an unexpected miracle happened.

A small black speck was flying toward him rapidly.

This tiny dot, which was no larger than a mosquito, suddenly flew into his nostril.

Lesley's eyes widened in an instant. He knew that something had entered his body.
