Chapter 455 Devour

Jonathan and Torrence didn't hesitate, both jumping straight in.

They didn't think too much about the endless perils and unknowns awaiting them in Demon Palace.

In fact, they knew Skylar might've evolved again and was bound to be even more dangerous this time.

Still, neither of them backed down or appeared fearful.

The future was fraught with hazards anyway, and the two had experienced countless life-and-death struggles in their lives, so why would they be afraid of that puppet primordial spirit?

Jonathan and Torrence sped toward Dragon Palace.

Soon, they arrived.

As soon as they stepped into Dragon Palace, they saw Skylar.

Skylar had his back to the duo, standing rooted to his spot and unmoving. Jonathan and Torrence exchanged glances, both sensing something was amiss. What was even stranger was that Jonathan noticed all the Golden Knights' corpses on the ground were all shriveled like mummies.

Their blood and essence were wholly drained, with not a trace left. The scene was more terrifying than when Jonathan had sucked people's blood dry previously.

Jonathan and Torrence felt chills traveling down their spines. What exactly happened here?

Right then, Skylar turned around.

When Jonathan and Torrence saw Skylar, their hearts clenched, and colors drained from their faces.

F*ck! Jonathan almost exclaimed out loud. What the hell is wrong with him?

Skylar's countenance was a bloody mess as if it had been corroded.

His facial features were no longer distinguishable, and his hand had turned into monster-like claws.

Worse yet, Skylar's body emitted an indescribable stench like the smell of a piece of meat that had been sunned to rot. That was not all. His face and hands were also covered in oozing pus.

Torrence sneered. “The glorious Theos, who value benevolence and compassion, has actually sucked up all the blood and essence of her subordinates, turning him into this monstrous appearance. This is truly a great irony and comical joke.”

“No one will ever know what happened here today.” Skylar suddenly spoke. However, his voice didn't come from his mouth. Instead, the sound seemed to reverberate within Jonathan's and Torrence's minds. Moreover, the voice didn't belong to Skylar but a woman's. Her voice was pleasant yet authoritative, making others wonder how beautiful the speaker was.

The duo's pupils contracted. They didn't have the time and attention to spare to analyze how melodious the woman's voice was or how gorgeous she might be.

Theos' intention was clear as day. She was determined to slaughter Jonathan and Torrence that day.


Since she had committed such a heinous act and had been witnessed by the duo, she would never allow them to live.

Jonathan laughed and said, “Do you think you're capable of killing Torrence and me with that monstrous body?”

Skylar replied calmly, “I forged this body by absorbing those Golden Knights' blood and essence, and it's evolving toward the perfect state. You won't be able to harm it even with your fists or weapons. The only thing you can do is wait for your inevitable death!”

Jonathan scoffed, “You're full of hot air. There are many people in this world who want to kill me, but I'm still alive and well to this day.”

Skylar uttered coldly, “How dare you compare others with me?”

“Why can't I? Do you really think you're a god?” Jonathan laughed mockingly.

He continued to provoke Skylar, but he didn't dare to let his guard down.

Torrence also cautiously kept watch.

“You're courting death!” Skylar flew into a rage.

Then, he made his move.

No longer wielding a sword, he moved swiftly like lightning, lunging forward like a monster and slashing his claw at Jonathan's head.

Jonathan instantly felt as if he was battling a ferocious ancient beast. F*ck!

A foul-smelling gust of wind buffeted against Jonathan.

Skylar's speed was too fast for Jonathan to the extent of overwhelming him, and all he could do was brace himself.

Jonathan immediately channeled his Force and unleashed Rolling Thunder Punch.

Bang!

Jonathan's and Skylar's fists collided. At that instant, Jonathan felt an indescribable and overpowering force slamming into him from his opponent's punch.

The force carried an invincible will, nullifying Jonathan's punch effortlessly.

Jonathan could no longer hold out and was sent flying backward.

He was thrown three meters away and landed heavily on the floor with a thud.

Vitality churned within him, and stars danced in his eyes. He tasted something metallic before spewing a mouthful of blood the next second.

Torrence turned pale and immediately thrust his sword at Skylar's neck.

Skylar reached out to grasp Torrence's Hallowed Sword with his claw in a flash and caught hold of the blade.

Torrence planned to cut off Skylar's claw by gyrating his Force but soon realized his Hallowed Sword wouldn't budge no matter how much Force he exerted.

Wearing a poker face, Skylar abruptly shook his head, and instantly, a spiraling electric current surged forth.

Torrence could no longer maintain his grip on Hallowed Sword, and the weapon was snatched by Skylar.

What happened next left Torrence even more dumbfounded because he saw Skylar bring Hallowed Sword toward his mouth.

Skylar's mouth was no longer discernible, but at that moment, he suddenly opened his bloody maw, placed the sword inside, and began chewing on it viciously.

Hallowed Sword was consumed by Skylar in a few bites.

He chewed loudly, seemingly savoring the taste of the sword.

Upon witnessing the scene, Jonathan turned ashen-faced and was suddenly reminded of Wretched. Why is Skylar's body becoming like Wretched's? He can undergo evolution and devour things.

Jonathan didn't have the time to think further. He knew he and Torrence were truly in a pickle. Damn it. It feels like we traveled so far and endured all the sleepless nights to rush over here just to meet our doom.

Jonathan tried to move, but unbearable pain spread across his body as soon as he did that, and he puked out another mouthful of blood.

Jonathan's face turned as white as chalk as he finally fathomed how severe his injuries were.

“Torrence, hurry up and escape. Just leave me be.” He gritted his teeth in agony and flashed a wry smile. “It seems that I'll be meeting my end here today.”

A determined look flashed across Torrence's eyes when he took in Jonathan's state. He disregarded Jonathan's words and turned to speak to Skylar. “Theos, as long as you're willing to let Jonathan go, I'll return to Supreme Sect and accept any punishments that await.”

Before Skylar could respond, Jonathan said, “Are you out of your mind, Torrence? She'll never let you return to Supreme Sect now that you've witnessed the wicked things she's done. She won't let us off the hook today. Why did you waste your time pleading with her? I don't think you can escape either now.”
