When the car stopped at the apartment, Leanna let out her breath. “Elijah, I’m so sorry about what happened earlier.”

“Leanna,” Elijah stopped her while looking a little nervous. He hesitated for a moment before asking. “Are we still friends?”

Leanna was slightly taken aback by the question. Then, she nodded. “Of course. What’s wrong?”

“Alright, please be careful on your way back. Text me when you get home.”

Elijah decided to take it step by step and not to rush it. There was at least still a little hope for him so long as she did not reject him right away.
