"Sonny is doing well now. Are you planning to pick him up from kindergarten?" "Yes"

Serenity considered it for a moment before agreeing. "Okay, I'll send a message to Sonny's teacher and let them know you'll pick him up this afternoon."

"Thanks, Serenity," Hank replied, his tone genuinely appreciative.

Hank was grateful that Serenity didn't make things difficult for him. Both Serenity and Liberty were kind-hearted people. Liberty had moved on with her life, even finding a new relationship. She had long let go of the resentment she once harbored toward Hank and had learned to coexist peacefully with him.

Serenity, however, still held onto some dissatisfaction with Hank. Yet, she understood that he was Sonny's biological father and played a role in Sonny's life. For Sonny's sake and his healthy growth, Serenity tolerated Hank. Whenever he expressed a desire to see Sonny, she didn't stand in his way. "When you pick up Sonny and take him home for dinner, please don't let him eat junk food- especially fried chicken, potato chips, or anything high in calories. Those things irritate his throat. The fever he had last time was caused by that." "I understand," Hank assured her. "I'll let my parents know not to feed him those foods anymore."

Hank had learned from Serenity that Sonny's fever had been due to his parents letting him indulge in fried chicken and potato chips. They had unfairly blamed Duncan, but Hank now saw how much Duncan cared for Sonny.
