Married by Accident, Taming the Billionaire
Chapter 370
Chapter 370 Accomplished Something Big
It was unclear what time Remington left, but Cecelia was already exhausted and fast asleep by then.
The next morning, when Cecelia arrived at the dining room for breakfast, she overheard a servant reporting to Alfred about the appearance of a suspicious person at West Garden the previous night.
“Did you manage to find out who it was?” Alfred asked sternly.
The servant explained, “No, he ran too fast and vanished in an instant. We couldn’t catch up with him.”
“Did you find anything else? Did the night patrol encounter him?” Alfred asked again.
The servant responded, “Only the guard dog at West Garden kept barking, and the patrol didn’t find anything weird.”
Alfred ordered, “Alright. You may leave.”
He was wondering who had trespassed West Garden the night before when Cecelia walked into the dining room. “Good morning, Granduncle.”
Alfred looked at her and asked, “Cecelia, did you have a good rest last night?”
“Yeah, I slept very well until morning.”
Cecelia had put on delicate makeup to make herself look vibrant and energetic as if she did have a sound sleep.
Alfred didn’t pursue further and ordered breakfast to be served.
After breakfast, Cecelia and Alfred prepared to visit the Songo Dyehouse.
Remington and Adam came together. Remington had barely slept the previous night, but he looked energetic today as if he would never get exhausted.
Adam knew Remington had gone to bother Cecelia the night before and warned Remington not to tarnish his sister’s reputation, but Remington didn’t obey. There was nothing more Adam could say.
Adam just wondered, “Is it really that interesting for a man and a woman to do that kind of thing? I really can’t understand. Just let it be!”
Edwin, who had just met Cecelia last night, also came along.
Warda had planned to join as well, but his wife had had serious diarrhea the previous night, so he had to take her to the hospital that morning.
Mizey, who was still with whip-induced injuries, insisted on going together.
Mizey’s injuries weren’t really serious. With some ointment applied, she could endure the pain.
Mizey wouldn’t let herself miss this opportunity when she learned that her grandfather was taking Cecelia to visit the Songo Dyehouse.
In Mizey’s opinion, the Songo Dyehouse would eventually be inherited by the elder branch, and she couldn’t give Cecelia any chance to take advantage.
“Miss Cecelia.”
When Edwin saw Cecelia, there was a hint of excitement in his eyes. He took the initiative to greet her, while Cecelia responded with a polite but indifferent attitude.
Remington noticed that Edwin looked at Cecelia in a different way. Facing the new face, Remington curiously asked Adam, “Who is this guy? We haven’t seen him before, have we?”
“He should be Edwin, the son of the head of the eighth branch. Edwin just returned from Ferndale,” Adam replied.
“He’s a bit annoying.” Remington narrowed his cold eyes slightly.
“I agree. His eyes are glued to my sister. He even got close to her like a dog, sniffing around. What the h*ll does he want?”
Adam couldn’t stand it and quickly walked up, pushing Edwin away to protect his sister. Remington also approached Cecelia, his cold gaze fixed on Edwin.
Edwin felt the intimidating stares from the two guys, furrowing his brow, not understanding why they were looking at him with such hostility.
Edwin wondered, “I don’t owe them money, do I?”
It was time to get into the cars. Cecelia was arranged to ride with Alfred, but Mizey quickly walked up, stepping on Cecelia’s shoe tip, pretending not to notice.
“Cecelia, sorry. I want to sit with my grandpa. Can you sit in the car behind this one?”
Cecelia calmly withdrew her foot. There was a white mark on her black shoe.
In the face of Mizey’s disgusting behavior, Cecelia didn’t make a fuss. Instead, she reached out and patted Mizey hard on the back.
“Alright, Mizey. Have your injuries gotten healed? Don’t you need to rest at home?”
“Ouch!”
The pain contorted Mizey’s delicate features. Although she knew Cecelia did it on purpose, Mizey couldn’t do anything about it. She could only grit her teeth and force a smile. “I’m fine. I don’t need to rest.”
“Okay then. Let’s get into the cars!” Cecelia smirked and turned towards the car behind.
Mizey trembled in pain and wished to kick Cecelia away when she stared at Cecelia’s arrogant figure.
Mizey thought to herself, “Just wait and see, Cecelia. You will pay for my whip strikes.”
“Miss Cecelia, no, Cece, would you mind if I ride with you in the same car?” Edwin excitedly changed his address, wanting to ride with Cecelia.
Unfortunately, before he could finish his words, Remington and Adam swiftly got into the car.
Remington sat next to Cecelia, and Adam took the passenger seat, leaving no extra space for Edwin.
Edwin could only get into the third car with a disappointed face. He wanted to chat with Cecelia on the way, but he didn’t have the chance.
On the way, Cecelia asked Remington, “Is everything coordinated properly?”
“All sorted.”
“Good!”
Cecelia didn’t say much else. Today, she was about to accomplish something big.
…
The Songo Dyehouse was located by the largest Mishaven Lake in Porema.
With green mountains and surrounding waters, blue sky, and white clouds, it looked exceptionally beautiful.
Looking at the Songo Dyehouse buildings as well as the tall archway on the opposite shore from Mishaven Lake, one could tell the previous prosperity of this place.
The vehicles circled along the lakeside road and finally arrived at the venue outside the Songo Dyehouse.
The crowd got out of the cars one by one. Cecelia looked up at the imperial plaque and inscriptions on the gate of the Songo Dyehouse. She felt a lot of emotions when she thought about the previous glory and the current decline.
She thought, “Looking back at the long river of history, how many traditional crafts like fragrance dyeing could be passed down? The advancement of industrial production has led us to lose the treasures left behind by our ancestors. It’s really difficult to retrieve them.”
The red lacquered gate with copper lions of the Songo Dyehouse were tightly closed, and there were passersby taking photos outside.
After inquiring, Cecelia found out that this place had been protected and was no longer open to the public.
However, the ancient site of the Songo Dyehouse still preserved the ancient mortise and tenon architectural style. It was one of the well-preserved ancient buildings in Porema, and the area outside the gate had become a tourist attraction and popular spot for taking photos.
Alfred ordered the gates to be opened, and the copper rings in the mouths of the copper lions collided to produce a clear sound.
Following Alfred, Cecelia and the others crossed the high threshold and entered the ancient courtyard.
The interior of Songo Dyehouse had layers of buildings and a large space. Everything remained as it was in the past, although weathering had taken its toll.
As they walked, Alfred introduced the internal structure and the functions of various objects to them.
In a central courtyard, there were several large dyeing vats. Alfred pointed and said, “Cecelia, take a look! These are the dyeing vats we used before.”
Cecelia and the others approached and observed the vats from all sides. They could see some faint dye stains still remaining, but as the vats hadn’t been used for a long time, rainwater had seeped in, turning the water green and emitting a slightly fishy smell, which looked quite disgusting.
At this moment, Mizey was standing behind Cecelia. An idea popped into Mizey’s head when she saw Cecelia seriously studying the vat.
While everyone was listening to Alfred’s explanation of the history of the Songo Dyehouse, Mizey secretly reached out her hand toward Cecelia’s back.
