“You can ask my father. Ask him if he’s willing.” Cynthia replied.
Mandy seemed utterly deflated…

As Cynthia made her exit, she emphasized, “I only have one sister, Shirley. Even if you marry my father, Michelle will never be his daughter.”
After delivering this line, she walked away. She could not muster any sympathy for Mandy and Michelle, nor did she have any fondness for them. She wondered what her father’s reaction would be if he learned about Mandy’s intentions toward the Yates Group shares
With these thoughts, she returned to the living room.
Upon seeing her, Shirley’s mood lightened somewhat. Finally, the talk was over!
“Where is my mother?” Michelle asked with a trace of confusion in her eyes after waiting for Mandy for quite a while.
“Outside,” Cynthia replied c oolly
Michelle stood up and left the room
With only the three of them left in the living room, Jonathan asked, “How did it go?”
“You should go and talk to her. I think she has something to tell you. Shirley and I will wait for you in the car, Cynthia did not quite know how to put it.
Jonathan paused for a moment before nodding. “Alright”
As they were leaving, Mandy approached them with Michelle, who looked utterly bewildered and unaware of what had transpired. Mandy, on the other hand, appeared visibly worse off than before, looking decidedly wearied.
“What’s wrong?” Jonathan had never seen her in such a state.
