Chapter 541
“We met at a nightclub in fiverton. It was right after my mom passed away. I was feeling down and went to Jiverton to clear my head. That’s where I bumped into him,” Cynthia revealed, not feeling the need to hide anything.
There was an undercurrent of heartache in Matthew’s eyes, undetectable to anyone but himself. He prompted her to go on. And then?”
“I had a couple of drinks, and we started talking,” she recalled. Cynthia still remembered their conversation that night. “We found that we shared the same values, and he was knowledgeable about so many things. Plus, he was handsome. So, when he proposed, I agreed.”
Joshua, at that time, had seemed perfect. He was good-looking, fit, well-educated, and held the same values as hers. Even after their marriage, he had always been extremely pacient and gentle with her. He spent most of his time traveling for work or working overtime, but if he made a promise, he would keep it, no matter how busy he was.
Facing such a person, she had fallen for him without even realizing it. Until that one call from Jayleen shattered their peaceful life. It made her realize that even if they were compatible in many aspects, they would never last if they were not in sync

“A whirlwind marriage?” Matthew asked.
“More or less,” Cynthia agreed.
“How was he after you got married? Matthew was hesitant to ask, but he still wanted to know. He wanted to take good care of her if he was lucky enough to be with her in the future
“He was great, except for the last six months,” Cynthia answered, finally able to talk about it without much pain, though she still felt a little nostalgic.
“Other than these past six months, everything was rather good,” Cynthia stated, her voice calm and composed, yet a hint of regret was detectable
In his usual languid tone, Matthew responded, “Next time you’re thinking about getting married, consider me first. I’m not bad looking, after all.”
Cynthia paused, taking the opportunity to really oliserve Matthew. His casual demeanor, his striking features, and the perfect harmony of his well-defined facial structure. She found herself thinking he might actually be… a suitable candidate? She had a faint memory of being amazed by him at some point. However, when she tried to recall it, the stem and unyielding image of Captain in training was all that remained
“Do you want to get married?” Cynthia asked, thinking he must be under pressure from his family.
“Yes,” he said. The half of the sentence he left unsaid was, “With you.”
“In that case, I’ll organize a masquerade for this year’s annual gathering, Cynthia suggested, interpreting his eagerness to get married as a simple desire not to be single anymore. As a teammate, she felt the need to help him out. “We can invite all the single men and women from Arch International How about that?”
“Sounds good,” Matthew responded after giving her a glance.
Cynthia agreed After all, both M omo and Captain were single. Maybe this event could help them find the person that was suitable for them. After their discussion, they continued with their meal
