Chapter 552
1/2
On that day, Cynthia had just finished work and returned home when she received a call from Felix. The conversation, as usual, revolved around Joshua.
“How is Joshua doing? Felix sounded gently, trying not to pressure Cynthia
Cynthia truthfully replied, “Sean said his condition is still unstable, and they’ll update me once it stabilizes.”
“Old Man Neal asked me if Joshua would come back for the New Year. If he can’t recover before the New Year, I might need you to help,” Felix continued.
“Okay,” Cynthia agreed.
After discussing a few more things, Felix hung up the phone.
Cynthia sat on the couch, gripping her phone, feeling heavy.
After much consideration, she decided to make a phone call to Sean.
Sean answered the call while discussing something with Joshua When he saw it was Cynthia, he frowned. Nonetheless, he still stood up and walked to a window before answering, “Hello, Ms. Yates.”

“How is Joshua’s condition?” Cynthia asked.
“It’s still unstable,” Sean replied.
“I want to know the details,” Cynthia insisted.
Sean glanced at the silent Joshua and felt a headache coming on. “I suggest it’s better for you not to know.”
“What’s wrong with him?” Cynthia sensed something was up.
Sean remained silent.
Sean did not know how to describe Joshua’s condition. However, one thing he was confident of was that keeping Joshua here any longer would be detrimental to both him and the base.
In fact, it would be very detrimental!
Cynthia’s heart sank when she did not hear Sean’s reply, and she instinctively thought something had happened.
“Come see for yourself,” Sean said before hanging up the phone.
Cynthia did not hesitate, grabbing her phone and car keys before quickly leaving the house.
As for Sean, after pocketing his phone, he approached Joshna with a smile, saying gently, “Your sister is coming to pick you up and take you home soon. Are you happy
“Your smile makes me suspect you’re up to no good.” Joshua stared at Sean. He no longer had the cold demeanor. Instead, there seemed to be a hint of childlike innocence.
“How could that be? Am I that kind of person? Sean maintained his smile.
Joshua replied, “You are.”
remained silent. As expected, he could not bring himself to like someone like Joshua
Even before the incident, Joshua was difficult to deal with. Yet, with his memory loss and intellectual regression to the level of a five-year-old, he could still infuriate him.
They were just incompatibile!
