Mr. Powell Is Hunting for His Wife

Chapter 67 Why Did Brooklyn Hire a Female Assistant?

After a few seconds of thought, Harper answered, "It’s a female assistant."

Madam Powell frowned. "A female assistant? Brooklyn never hired a female assistant before. I still remember that he told me that a female assistant will bring a lot of trouble. Why did he hire a female assistant?"

She put the teacup down and then rested her hands on her knees, Madam Powell gazed at Harper.

Though in her seventies, Madam Powell was energetic with dark and bright eyes. Harper broke out in a cold sweat since Madam Powell fixed her eyes on him.

"Doesn’t Brooklyn worry that his fiancee will lose her temper?" Madam Powell said gently.

She didn’t have a favorable impression of Mirabelle.

That girl looked gentle, graceful, well-behaved, pretty, and polite.

However, Madam Powell was no common woman. She was born and grew up in a rich and powerful family which helped her obtain a thorough understanding of snobbery in the upper class. Therefore, she was very clear that Mirabelle’s nature was not the same as how she presented herself.

Brooklyn was Madam Powell’s only grandson, so his insomnia had always worried Madam Powell sick.

All famous doctors in Sliwell failed to relieve Brooklyn’s insomnia. Mirabelle was the only one that could help Brooklyn suffer less from insomnia. That was why Madam Powell turned a blind eye to their marriage. After all, since Brooklyn was in charge of the Powell Group, he would not allow Mirabelle to do anything against the interests of the Powell Group.

Therefore, although Madam Powell disapproved of their marriage, she didn’t interfere in it.

"Ms. Moss?" Harper smiled. It had been six years since he became Brooklyn’s assistant. He was treated kindly by Madam Powell due to his loyalty to Brooklyn and his hard work for the company.

After a while of thinking, Harper said, "Ms. Moss did have argued with Mr. Powell over this before. I heard that Mrs. Powell even asked Mr. Powell’s female assistant to the Powell’s and rebuked her. However, the new assistant is indeed very capable. No one in the company can rival her capability to make perfumes. Therefore, Mr. Powell tried his best to let her stay."

Madam Powell was surprised by Harper’s explanation.

"Is she more capable than Ashley? I remember that Ashley was the former chief perfumer in the company."

Though Madam Powell had already handed over the Powell Group to his grandson, she was reluctant to witness any troubles since the Powell Group was the fruit of her husband’s painstaking labor.
