My Aloof Sisters Asked for My Forgiveness
Chapter 290
"Guards! Arrest him and take him to the West Prison!"
With a brisk command from Arthur, armored soldiers stormed into the McCall family villa.
His fury burned bright. Punishing Dustin was the only thing that could quell it.
"Mr. Arthur," Allison said hastily in a pleading voice. "Would you grant our family some leniency and set this matter aside for now? My grandfather is gravely ill, and without treatment, he might not survive..." Reluctantly, Arthur relented. "Fine. But once Mr. Graves cures your grandfather, he's a dead man." He shot Dustin a venomous glare, and his voice dripped with menace.
Dustin did not even flinch.
"Please, follow me." Allison led the group toward her grandfather's room.
The atmosphere inside was heavy with despair. Jonathan lay motionless on the bed. He was barely clinging to life. His breaths were faint and labored.
Anyone could see he was days, if not hours, from the brink of death.
It was no wonder Allison had risked her future in desperation.
"I humbly ask for your assistance," Allison said to the gathered physicians solemnly. "If anyone can save my grandfather, the McCall family will reward you generously, and I will honor my vow without question." "Mr. Graves, the honor is yours," Arthur said in excitement as he looked at Gareth.
Gareth nodded and approached the bed.
He felt Jonathan's pulse as his expression grew graver by the second.
After several moments of examination, he stepped aside. He was clearly deep in thought.
"Next physician, please," someone said.
One by one, the esteemed physicians stepped forward. Each conducted their own evaluations. Without fail, every face contorted into a frown, and no one could provide a diagnosis.
Finally, Dustin approached. Unlike the others, he did not even bother to check the pulse. He merely glanced at the patient before stepping back.
"Ha! A fraud who doesn't even dare to try," said Arthur with a sneer.
The crowd murmured in agreement and assumed that Dustin was too afraid of failure to attempt a diagnosis.
"Does anyone have an answer?" Allison's voice quivered with anxiety.
The physicians exchanged uneasy glances and offered little more than evasive remarks.
"This is a truly peculiar condition."
"Such an illness is beyond remedy!"
Allison's face fell as her hope dwindled.
