“Time for the birthday song!” someone exclaimed as a towering cake was wheeled into the room.

The lights dimmed, and voices swelled in a harmonious rendition of the birthday song, while Sanford, bathed in the soft candlelight, silently made his wish.

Rosalynn felt a firm grip on her hand. She then shot a warning glance at Brian.

Leaning down, Brian whispered, “Quit giving me the stink eye, or I’ll kiss you right here, in front of everyone.”

Rosalynn was lost for words. She had no choice but to bear it!

“Sanford, you’re obliged to share the first slice of cake with the one you love the most,” someone called out as they flipped on the Light.
