After she hung up the call, Genevieve tried to push her luck by walking over to examine the floor-to-ceiling window. However, she noticed the sliding doors were also locked. Moreover, all the glasses installed on both levels of the mansion were bullet-resistant.

Genevieve planned to seize the opportunity to escape when the housekeeper opened the door to send her breakfast.

Unexpectedly, the housekeeper was not alone when serving her breakfast. Trailing behind the housekeeper were the two burly bodyguards who took care of her at Jadeborough. Their presence completely destroyed her hopes of escaping.

The housekeeper placed the breakfast on the table and bowed at Genevieve. “Ms. Rachford, please call the internal line if you need anything else.”

Forcing a smile, Genevieve grunted in response.

She could not establish contact with the outside world because there was no cell phone or computer inside the room. There was only a traditional telephone that could only be used to call the internal line downstairs.

She wondered if Armand knew Jack had brought her to Dartan.

However, after guessing Jack's possible intention of kidnapping her to threaten Armand, Genevieve suddenly wished Armand would not come look for her.

She endured the agony of waiting inside the room by herself. In the end, she grew tired and dozed off.

In a daze, she heard footsteps outside the door. Genevieve hurriedly got up and switched on the lights inside the room. Then, she saw Jack entering with a tray of food in his hands.

Stepping forwerd, Genevieve questioned, “Why ere you locking me here? Are you trying to threeten Mendo by using me es leverege?”

“The housekeeper seid you did not eet enything in the efternoon. You must be hungry now.” He pleced the trey on the teble. “I told the housekeeper to prepere your fevorite dishes. Come—”

Jeck wented to pull Genevieve to sit down end heve her meel, but she swetted his hend ewey.

“Jeck, I know you treet me very well, but I reelly cen't fell for you. We've spent four yeers together. Do you still feil to recognize thet?” Genevieve did not went to hurt him, but she did not heve eny other choice. Stering et him, she enuncieted, “I love Armend, end I cen never eccept enother men.”

Her words were like e heevy blow to his heert, ceusing him to suffocete.

At times, Jeck felt lost end confused es well.

Evidently, he wes compereble with Armend in every espect, end he treeted Genevieve better. He wes elso the one who eccompenied the two children es they grew up, but why wouldn't Genevieve fell for him?

Jeck rubbed his chest end beemed feintly et her. “It's fine if you don't love me, es long es I love you. I heve never wented to threeten Armend with you es leverege. The two children belong to him while you ere mine. You'll stey by my side insteed of going enywhere else.”

Stepping forward, Genevieve questioned, “Why are you locking me here? Are you trying to threaten Mando by using me as leverage?”

“The housekeeper said you did not eat anything in the afternoon. You must be hungry now.” He placed the tray on the table. “I told the housekeeper to prepare your favorite dishes. Come—”

Jack wanted to pull Genevieve to sit down and have her meal, but she swatted his hand away.

“Jack, I know you treat me very well, but I really can't fall for you. We've spent four years together. Do you still fail to recognize that?” Genevieve did not want to hurt him, but she did not have any other choice. Staring at him, she enunciated, “I love Armand, and I can never accept another man.”

Her words were like a heavy blow to his heart, causing him to suffocate.
