Next One Is a Babe

Chapter 1578

Cindy agreed to the point he made. “Yes, indeed. What’s the point of having big numbers in the account? There’s only this much you can spend in a day anyway.”

As the two conversed, the atmosphere felt rather pleasant, as if they had found a clone of themselves.

Soon, their orders arrived, and they switched to another topic. Gary briefly informed her the current state of her investment.

Cindy listened attentively to his elaboration. After her investing “class” with Gary, she could understand some of what he was talking about.

In fact, she had already prepared to invest in another project. Although she wasn’t exactly determined to resign, she thought it was best to have a backup plan.

If Gary’s investment was actually beneficial to her, perhaps she could entirely detach herself from being Ian’s assistant.

As the two dined and chatted, the mood was delightful. Not even a tinge of awkwardness was present.

Later, when Cindy was about to pay for dinner, Gary revealed he had already paid for it in advance.

She immediately glowered at him. “I’ve asked too much from you, Mr. Frye. If this goes on, I’d be too embarrassed to dine with you anymore in the future.”

Gary suppressed his speaking volume. “I saw someone I know here earlier. Him and I aren’t exactly on the best of terms. In fact, we’ve been fighting a lot lately. If he were to find out a woman bought me dinner, who knows how he would set me up tomorrow. So let me pay for this, and you can get the next one, okay?”

Cindy wasn’t certain whether he was telling the truth, but there was definitely sincerity in his words as he grinned.

Since that was the case, she didn’t refute any longer.

After hesitating for a while, she nodded in agreement. “I’ll get the next one. That’s a promise, alright? I’ll get mad if you pull another sneaky prepayment.”

Gary instantly laughed out. “Yes, yes. Duly noted.”

Accordingly, the two walked out of the restaurant. Gary, who had driven over himself, offered, “Let me send you home.”

Initially, Cindy wanted to refuse the offer, but she changed her mind when Gary quickly added, “I don’t feel good letting a young lady take the cab at night. Allow me to send you home, for safety reasons. Don’t worry. I won’t leak your address to the paparazzi even if I know it.”

Since he had given her his words, she could only get into his vehicle as she said her thanks.

And so, Gary started his car. “You’re always so courteous with me. Honestly, I consider us friends, and friends need not be so distant with each other, do they?”

Cindy was pleasantly surprised. Never had she expected Gary to see her as a friend.

All this while, she merely thought he was only taking care of her as his customer.

Little did she know, she was able to astound him, which shouldn’t be an easy feat.

Later, Gary sent Cindy to the neighborhood entrance. Before the car even stopped, she saw someone standing by the entrance.
