Chapter 26

She smiled. She thought he was just joking. It was an ad to celebrate the marriage between the Shaw family and the Hall family. Who would dare to take it down?

Her vision was dark. She could feel the warmth of his hands that were pressing against her skin.

After a moment, she pulled down his hands, looked up at him and said, “Jack, thank you.” She thought he had said that to comfort her. “Let’s go. I’m hungry.” She took his hand and walked away towards home.

Jack’s eyes stole one last glance at the large advertisement before he followed after her.

When they reached the rental house, Serenity went to the security booth to pick up a delivery. It was a sweater she bought.
