Jackson hung up the phone as soon as he had finished his sentence.
Master Zack stared at the phone screen silently for a while before giving it back to the nurse beside him.
Was there really no need for him to worry? It would be great if that was true, but sometimes, being uncertain was often the scariest thing. He was reminded of how his own son had once assured him by saying “Dad, I’ll never neglect all my duties to the Valor family just for a woman!”.

The voice had come from a comer of the room where a man clad in a black suit and wearing a pair of gold-rimmed glasses sat with a laptop in front of him, his fingers flying over the keyboard.
Serenity lay on the hospital bed, her mind still in a jumbled mess. Too many things had happened since last night, and she still could not quite wrap her head around it all.
Just now, some doctors and nurses had come in. They had done some basic checks on her and took some of her blood for testing. The results should come back later in the afternoon, depending on the situation.
At that moment, someone coughed lightly at the door before opening it and entering the room. Serenity looked at the mant who had just walked in. He was wearing a business suit with a necktie, and he looked to be a rather neat and refined young man who was probably not more than a few years older than her.
The man smiled at her and introduced himself, “Good afternoon, Miss Lewis. My name is Connor Gunn, and I’m… secretary. This is your mobile phone and your handbag. You may check the contents of your handbag and tell me if belongings are missing.”
