Chapter 131
“Ain’t that right, Sis?” He still called her Sis like before. The slightly raised tone at the end hinted at a kind of attachment.
But she felt as if there was a heavy mountain pressing down on her chest, weighing her down so much that she could hardly breathe.
Serenity returned to the ward with Jackson. Right after they entered the ward, Jackson asked the nurse to leave.
The two of them were thus left alone in the ward.
Serenity sat stiffly in the chair with her head hanging low. She had no idea what he wanted to do to her. If he wanted to make life more miserable for her because he thought she was not miserable enough, why did he rescue her on New Year’s Eve?
If he had just left her to her fate, her life would become even more miserable, right?

But no matter what he wanted to do to her, she was powerless to resist. After spending three years in prison, she knew the weight of fate and understood its cruelty, and knew how insignificant she was before it.
To those people with power and wealth, she was no more than a bug that they could easily
crush.
“Don’t you want to ask me anything?” His clear voice broke the silence in the room.
Serenity shivered slightly. His voice sounded so pleasant, like a breeze blowing through a bamboo forest on a quiet night. It was pleasing to the ear and gave off a sense of grandeur.
She slowly raised her eyes. Her gaze fell upon a beautiful and regal face. She took in his fair complexion, his straight nose, his thin lips that carried a hint of a smile, and his eyes that seemed to sparkle.
He stood in front of her and looked down at her from above, as if she was entirely under his control.
Serenity bit her lip unconsciously. She bit hard, but she did not feel any pain.
Seeing that, he frowned and reached out to pinch her chin. He said softly, “Don’t bite your lip. You might hurt yourself.”
He was so gentle, as if he was still her Jack and not the Jackson Valor that she feared.
