“You can go back now,” Jackson told Connor who had followed him inside.
Connor’s eyes widened slightly in surprise, but having worked for Jackson for many years, he naturally understood that some questions should be left unasked.
“Yes, Mr. Valor,” Connor replied before leaving the house.
Since Mr. Valor told him to go back, did that mean Mr. Valor was going to stay here tonight?
There were only two people left in the rental house Jackson and Serenity.
He helped her take off her shoes and jacket, covered her in a blanket, pulled a chair over and sat down next to the bed.
He had not been here for a while. All the “traces” he left in the house were gone.

Did she throw away all the stuff he used? The thought made him frown. It made him feel uncomfortable.
Serenity, who was sleeping on the bed, suddenly opened her eyes. She tried to get out of bed.

She said blurrily, “Water… I want water..”
She must be thirsty after drinking so much wine.
Jackson sighed and made her sit back down on the bed. “Sit still. I’ll go get you some water!”
If he let her go get water by herself, she might accidentally burn herself with hot water.
He went over to the small table where the thermos was placed. He knew that she usually kept a glass of cold water ready so that when she wanted to have some water in winter, she could mix the cold water with hot water to get warm water.
He took a glass and mixed some warm water for her, then brought it back to the bedside.
Luckily, she listened to him and remained seated. She was sitting obediently on the bed like a schoolchild.
Jackson could not help but chuckde.
She seemed to have heard that. She lifted her head and looked at him with half-opened eyes. Her cheeks were flushed and her lips were really red too.
