Chapter 373
Once Serenity had put all the groceries in the fridge, she turned around and discovered that jackson had been leaning against the kitchen door and staring at her, seemingly with his mind full of thoughts.
She turned away disconcertedly, trying to evade his eye contact, but as she walked out of the kitchen, there was simply no way for her to avoid him. He grabbed her arm and said, “You haven’t said good night to me yet.”
She was startled, but then quickly said, “Good night.”
He stared at her and suddenly smiled, saying, “Your good night wishes are starting to sound more and more forced and hollow, Sis.”
Serenity’s chest tightened, unable to find the right way to respond to him.
“Someone suggested,” Jackson said, “that if I want to make you like me, I should try to please you.’

He then bent down so that his eyes were on the same level as hers, and he added, “What do you think? Would you really like me if I tried to please you?”
Serenity almost bit her tongue as her eyes widened in disbelief. What did he just say? He wanted to… please her?!
Could such words have really come out from the lips of a man like him?!
But her stunned look only seemed to delight him.
“What’s wrong?” He teased her. “Is it so shocking to hear that I want to please you?”
All the words she wanted to say seemed to be stuck in her throat without any way to cough them out.
He raised a hand to gently caress her lips as he continued, “So, now you know how much I want you to like me, Sis. What about you? How should I please you so that you’ll finally like me?”
Her lips suddenly felt like they were burning hot. Her heart was thumping in her chest violently again. She never expected Jackson to say things like this to her. Did he really want her to like him that much? So much that he was willing to please her?
And how sincere were feelings for her, anyway?
Those questions circled her mind, but she kept all of them to herself and did not ask him anything
At noon on Memorial Day, Jackson came to the hospital by himself and headed straight to his grandfather’s private wand.
“Have you visited your father’s grave?” Zack Valor asked. The man used to be powerful and commanding, but now, he was nothing more than a frail old man, wasting away on the hospital bed all day.
