Chapter 421
Lately, he had always been spending the night sleeping in the same bed with her in this room. Although strictly speaking they did nothing at all the whole night, as time went on, it had become a habit for both of them to fall asleep together without them even realizing it.
Because she had to keep the lights on while sleeping, Serenity would gently hint, “I always need the light to be on when I’m sleeping and you’re probably not used to it. Why don’t you just go sleep in your own room instead?”
But the only reply she got was, “I just want to sleep with you, Sis. I don’t mind it even if the lights are on.”
And so, the rest of what she had in mind remained unsaid
“Are you going to bed now?” Jackson asked when he saw her heading toward the bed.
“Uh-huh,” she replied, blushing slightly.

She then lifted the blanket and prepared to climb into bed when Jackson suddenly wrapped his arms around her waist and hugged her tight, burying his face against her body. He was acting just like a spoiled child demanding attention.
Jackson was revealing his childish side at that moment. He was nothing like his usual self at all, yet for some reason, Serenity found herself liking this slightly immature version of him.
“By the way, Serenity suddenly thought of something and asked, “Why did Lucas say those words to you today? Are you guys fighting over something?”
“What words?” Jackson asked in return, but he was only thinking about how he could really get addicted to hugging her tightly like this and that he might never want to let her go. He wished he could stay in this position and be enveloped by her
scent forever.
“That he didn’t want to be your enemy,” replied Serenity.
She somewhat recalled how Jackson and Lucas seemed to get along pretty well, yet what Lucas had said gave her an impression that there might be some animosity between the two. If the Garnez family really did become enemies with the Valors, she could only imagine what major shakeups the finance and film industries in Solaria might experience.
“He meant what he said,” said Jackson.
“But what’s the reason behind it?” she asked, still curious. “Are you guys fighting over a business deal?”
“No,” he told her bluntly, “we’re fighting over you.”
She almost choked on her saliva. They were fighting over her? Impossible! Surely he was joking?!
He slowly raised his head till his eyes met hers. Those dark pupils of his seemed to be soaked in the impenetrable darkness of the night.
